Do you have a recipe as I keep reading about spelt bread on Blogs and would love to have a go at making some
I'll dig it out for you. Takes a bit of experimenting to get it how you like it (guess that is true for all bread making). I use a mix of two spelt flours - Sharpham Park 1/3 and doves white refined 2/3froddington wrote: »Am glad it didn't tell me to enjoy all the time with my family though!
I am liking the fact that it is warm enough here to not need the heating on at the moment - almost double figures here for a bit today! Apologies to those of you with not-so-nice weather.
[/COLOR]welcome to all the newbies
Well done on surviving and I'm loving not having the heating or fire on too, just getting chilly now but it comes on at 4:30

Getting LR tidied.
Any views on keeping/not keeping xmas/birthday/special occasion cards you have been sent?0 -
Feel better for going out. The crowds of people didn't bother me as they were not speaking to me!
Got some bits for our bedroom half price in John Lewis (light shade, cushion and bedlinnen all of which we need). Also managed to pick up half price really decent school shoes for DS3 and a thick hoody for him (both of which he really needs). Stocked up on half price milk for the freezer and half price wrap which was still on 3for2 aswell and finally first stocking filler for next year.
I'll go back to town in the morning to do the centre - JL and waitrose was enough for today
Hex - hope the car gets fixed as cheaply as possible - really not what you need.
Toots - decorating is going well but the lack of daylight, so grey here, isn't helping DH and his family were here for longer than expected (24 hours) so he lost time there. It won't be finished by the time he returns to work on Thursday but will be done over the weekend so that is fine especially as I think he'll get the bit where the wardrobe is pulled out done so that can go back in place.
DS1 has tidied the garage of all his golf stuff which was dumped and is working on AS lit coursework.
Other two behaving and cats sleeping so nobody to shout at just now.
Going to sort another load for the WM and then make a start on dinner, not sure what yetThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Do you have a recipe as I keep reading about spelt bread on Blogs and would love to have a go at making some
Note: it is important that you don't over-knead spelt dough.
2 teaspoons dry yeast
1 2/3 cups warm water (105° to 110° F)
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon melted butter (or ghee)
1 teaspoons sea salt
4 cups spelt flour (use any combination of whole or white spelt)
Combine the yeast, water and honey in a large warm bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes or until the froth has started to appear. Stir in the butter and salt and 3 cups of the flour. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon. Add the remaining flour in increments until the dough becomes too stiff to stir, then place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead very gently to combine the flour, adding any remaining flour as necessary, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Do not over knead.
Place the dough in a greased bread pan. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free spot for about 2 hours or until doubled in bulk.
I have an AGA and it takes about 15 minutes in the bottom to cook but I guess cook just as you would a usual loaf. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Hello all.
Happy Birthday Kezlou.
Mumof2 (((HUG))) sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. Hang in there til you can see the GP - Wolfy strength to cope on it's way to you.:o
I'm still very tired and washed out, but have managed to S&S the bungalow, and Mr LW helped me make some mince pies (he wants them for his lunchbox as he's back at work tomorrow) and lasagne for our dins - he kept the washing up shifted at the same rate as I was creating it!:A He's also taken Max out twice today; there's still a tad too much snow for me to use the mobility buggy, so I really struggle with dog-walking; I'm told Max enjoyed himself, and made friends with a Husky!:D
We had to visit Mr M's this morning, and that really knocked the stuffing out of me, so it's great that Mr LW seems to like walking Max. LOL I'm gonna miss that dog when he goes home!:o
We've struggled to find anything worth the bother of watching on TV the entire holiday - thankfully we have quite a few DVDs to fall back on. I'm not a fan of TV, but when I have these bad turns, it's useful to have something to dispel the silence. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
List done.
Two lots of washing done.
Lasagne made and in oven.
I met DD up the street for a look around the shops.
Never been so glad to see rain its getting rid of the snow. The cat will be happy when it all goes.
I have enjoyed just being in the house the past few days. Xmas stuff sorted. Doing quite a bit of reading.
Welcome to the newbies.
kezlou Happy Birthday!
vanilla Hope Rhys is feeling better and your water is back on.

Hi all, still feeling grot with this chest infection so doing a bit, stopping, doing a bit, stopping.
Anyway so far managed to get
wm x 2
td x 2
dw x 1
Dirty washing brought downstairs.
The big job I wanted done was a real sluice down of the path outside in the garden. Snow, ice, ashes and chicken muck was not a good combination to be walking on so as a lot had melted I scrapped and cleared loads, then sluiced with disinfected water. Plus moved all the boxes, escess bin bags and rubbish away from back door and in the rubbish area.
Also binned more recycling stuff e.g. food stuff.
So I'm quite pleased at my efforts really, sat resting now watching hubby playing his game.
Not sure what to have for tea, I fancy something really, really healthy....but what?
Huge hugs for those who aren't feeling to good today, including Lamewolf, Mumof2, Toot's, Lady L and Hex2.
