We bought our son a TV for Christmas from Marks & Spencer. We bought it for 2 reasons - one, it had iplayer and youtube built in and two, it was half price (£250 reduced from £500). After a few hours of watching on christmas day the tv fizzled then lost all power. I checked the fuse and it had blown. I replaced the fuse and now the green light comes on but the screen is just blank. It is obviously faulty but I am not sure where we stand on a replacement/refund. I am doubtful we will get another TV with the iplayer and youtube facility (M&S sold out) but even without this facility it is still unlikely we will get the same spec TV for £250. If they offerred a refund, will they offer £250 or can we insist on the £500 as we would have to pay this much to get the same spec TV as we originally bought. The receipt says £499 reduced to £250.

Why would they give you double what you paid?0

Thanks for the rapid reply. So if they were to offer a replacement they will (could) offer one at the same price rather than at the same spec.0

If you spent £250 you should expect to receive a refund of £250! I know we would all like to receive the initial price but alas......To Dare is To Do:beer:0

Getting the money back is not my top priority, he liked the TV and just wants a replacement, however, if he is unable to get a straight replacement we would like one with the same specification which we won't get at the price originally paid. So its just tough luck I assume.0

This cant possibly be a serious question. :rotfl:0

Does it not come with a warranty? _ why not go down that route and get it fixed - the manufacturer may then decide to replace it with new one.
Sorry to go off subject, but are M&S selling poor quality products - the smokes salmon we had yesterday was basically thickly cut scraps and the £9.99 crackers would not have looked out of place in the 99p shop.0
