Cheers M8, agree about the fitters from the householders point of view. Of course from a professional / union / corporate point of view what we call shoddy work is what they respectively call repeat business / protecting their job / next load of cash from the householder ! :beer:Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Just in case anyone is interested in the original reason for the thread.
The PC was returned to the shop on Tuesday and has just been brought back home.
The PSU was the only thing needing replaced.0 -

The charge was £23 and fixed by the shop. They have also removed (or replaced) the voltage switch by a large red sticker saying 240v only - just in case!0 -

That was not a good price, [ assuming replacement ] but a very good price, you did well there Jem !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Yes it was a replacement.
We went together to the shop on Tuesday ( she wanted a bit of moral support and hubby was back at work) as it was me who had organised the PC for her in the first place. I have been using them from when they first opened around 12 years ago. They quoted her £30 for the replacement but she phoned me a short while ago to say she had just picked it up and it was only £23 she had been charged.
They either did it at that price because the PC was literally just bought or they did it because of my dealings with them. Either way she is very pleased and very relieved!
She is going to phone me later today to make sure she has it all connected up properly before switching on. We discovered the monitor problem that caused all of this was actually down to her having connected it to the onboard graphics VGA slot when the PC had a better graphics card installed and she should have connected it to its DVI slot.0
