New PC blew up!

A friend of mine bought a new PC for Christmas. Unfortunately her husband changed it from 240V to 110V ( I'm assuming on the PSU but didn't know you could do this) for some reason.
Of course when switched on it subsequently blew up!
Any idea what damage may have been done? Would it hopefully just be the PSU that's been damaged or would it be other parts too?

Hopefully it is under guarantee?
As above, nearly everything will have been fried, excluding drives and harddrive.
Main things to be gone will definitely be the motherboard and maybe the RAM (unlikely though).
If it is self made, you are better getting the motherboard replaced first.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

It's only just bought and so under guarantee.
Presumably that doesn't cover self harm though? As above, nearly everything will have been fried, excluding drives and harddrive.

Oh dear - she is not going to be too happy with hubby!0 -

Surely even in this "compensate me for everything" world this self-inflicted misadventure is not going to be covered? :shocked:0 -

I've only ever had one in 25 years, I, like others have said expected fried everything. I put a new PSU in to test the extent of the component damage, it booted fine and went on for another 4 years.
For the old hands it was on of 50 or so i built that year :

I'm with posts #7 and 8.
Did you get any smoke or flashes on camcorder - may get upto £250 from sad tv.
Just turn back to 240v and return to vendor.0
