"I'm just curious, it's hardly something, someone would just muck about with, without knowing 100% what they are doing....." - well, chucking an electric fire into the bath has been done before , has it not?0

I'm curious to know why he did it too. It's practically impossible to do accidentally. As others have said, I've never seen a PSU where you didn't need a screwdriver to do it.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

"I did the same years go reached behind the box to turn power off and mistakenly pushed the voltage switch " - can you recall what damage, if any, was done ?0

They were having difficulty with the monitor saying no signal and going off. He decided to switch everything off and then on again. The wee red switch was just underneath the on/off switch and slid along easily by hand and wasn't marked in any noticeable way. It was only after it went bang that they noticed volts in minute writing.
I have to say it sounds a bit too easy to do.0 -

No apart from blown PSU i dont remember as blown psu mobo and all the rest are part of a never ending cycle .
If it aint broke dont fix it >> Boring was Thomas Edison s comment to that .
Luckily i can now take my Smartphone apart and fix that .

More than likely it will be a blown fuse inside the PSU. I had a customer who did the same thing (by accident), I changed the fuse and all was well.
Dropping the voltage to 110 should not damage the MoBo as it is half the normal operating voltage, so it just won't fire-up.Never Knowingly Understood.
