WOW, sounds like you're nearly sorted!!!!!! Well done :T
I'm starting slowly - hubby has bought me a sewing machine for my birthday in March so I'm waiting get that before I can create a lot of my gifts for Christmas
I've started some of my foodie bits - Limoncello and Rumtopf are underway.
* I have all my decorations etc already so don't need to buy anymore, but have a list of things I'm hoping to make
* Got the crackers and cards in boots sale for under £3 the lot!
* I have all my cards sorted for birthdays and occassions
* I have all the gifts for DS and DD birthdays sorted
Have just looked at my list and still have a lot to do....
Boots sale wasn't too good near mevery little left in store and there was no way I was staying up late to go online!
My only problem is that I really need to organise all the bits and pieces I've made and bought.... otherwise I'll never find it when the time comes!!!_____________________________________________party_ Handmade Christmas and Occassions 2011 _party_OS Moneysaving as much as I canGonna live 'The Good Life' - grow my own and 4 hens

This is a great idea - you can still buy something really cheap and cheerful for them to unwrap, but often toys are one minute wonders which don't really last. A savings account, or even Premium Bonds (you can only open these as a parent, but you can always give their parents money to buy some in their child's name) will be much more appreciated later in life when they will really need the money.
My grandma set up a savings account for me when I was a kid which I really appreciated when I was moving into my own flat for the first time, and I know people who have used savings for musical instruments etc. as the child grew up which is a great way to support their interests.0 -

Hiya, just new on here, but have really appreciated all the posts i've read so far. I have bought all my cross stitch kits for Xmas, so have a lot of sewing to do over the year!! Made a couple of hampers last year that were greatly appreciated and also made a memory book for my mum, which she loved. Looking to add a couple of homemade food items also this year, so will be following the posts closely for inspiration. I have a notebook which I add too for Xmas and Birthdays, also have a box which I add to for my childrens' friends birthdays and those last minute parties they are invited to. I have a birthday book where you can slot cards in for each month, worked wonders last year. Just started card making so planning to make cards for the month a head.0

Hi guys,
I want to try out this Rumtopf, I saw it last year but was a bit too close to Christmas to start. I just wondered what fruit you started with and if there is a particular brand of rum that is better. I'm not a rum drinker so I have no idea, I read high strength though.
Any help would be great.

I have always used cheap dark rum (I think Sainsburys basics is the best) in mine and it's always been lovely! It needs to be dark rum, not white.
As for the fruit I just put it in as it comes into season... I start with cherries, plums, nectarines.... then add strawberries and pears. It really depends on what fruit you want to add in. I have done it with just 2 or 3 fruit, other times I throw everything in (!), although there are some fruits you shouldn't use as they don't do too well. There's a guide here: http://www.germandeli.com/rumtopfrecipe.html
