I have always used cheap dark rum (I think Sainsburys basics is the best
) in mine and it's always been lovely! It needs to be dark rum, not white.
As for the fruit I just put it in as it comes into season... I start with cherries, plums, nectarines.... then add strawberries and pears. It really depends on what fruit you want to add in. I have done it with just 2 or 3 fruit, other times I throw everything in (!), although there are some fruits you shouldn't use as they don't do too well. There's a guide here: http://www.germandeli.com/rumtopfrecipe.html

Another month - another update. I need to go through my cupboard and re-sort as I've picked up a few more bits here and there and need to re-organise. Plus I'm visiting family next month so will take all birthday/Mothers Day/Fathers Day gifts with me.
UPDATE:
So far I have bought
:all wrap, tags and cards for next year
:most decs - still need red/green tinsel and a red or green tree topper
:16 out of 19 family xmas gifts (Just found out new baby due Oct for brother and SIL so another to add to the list)
:DD - Finished
:OH - Finished - but will probably still pick up the odd book I see in charity shops
plus ALL family birthday gifts
Also have got Mother's day and Father's Day gifts sorted :T
updated bits in bold
Will pick up some 'new baby bits' here and there (ASDA/Sains Baby Events etc) but will wait 'til we know what flavour it is before I buy any 'big' gifts.

I managed to pick up a duple lego box set from 1 1/2 up for my friends little girls birthday in October for £2.50 and also a Disney my first princess doll for £2.49 for Christmas thanks to the Tesco sale. I have decided this year for my friends and their children that I am just going to give them the present at the value it should of cost and not what it did cost if you know what I mean. It will save me a fortune and might make me stick to my budget. :rotfl:0

Just thought I would pop a update on as I havent done one for a while. Received a code for £10 of Amazon fashion so bought some Uggs for £35 from Amazon. Other than that has been quite a slow month. Nothing interesting found at the car boot sales but they have just started. How is everyone else getting on?0
