Has anyone received/bought new issue of cross stitcher ? I am thinking of stitching the Margaret Sherry frog design. I think its on page 73 or 74 (can't remember, mag is at home). Now first of all, it is a frog and not a toad ? (daft I know but it has to be a frog) and secondly, where do you think I should start stitching ? Because they have put four designs on the same page, its not clear where the centre point is but I was thinking somewhere near where the frog's hands are (all the pink stitching of his belly). I am planning on stitching on 16 count aida (that will be fun with the fractionals!!!) I don't know what size he is going to turn out but i'm hoping he will fit into a coaster :j

Hey Flat Eric, The design is 60 x 60 (ish, Its more like 50 tall but its easier to find a middle with even numbers) The middle to me is just next to the 4th finger from the left (this should make sense looking at the design).
I personally dont tend to start in the middle of designs (contervesal i know)
and as suh id probably start on the watery bit to judge what sort of actual size it is.

And Yes I think its a frog.
    hope that helps!

    Thank you so much! :j

Been a bit of a rubbish week so far. Got woken up by a phone call on Monday at 5:50am saying that DH Mum is on her way to hospital with breathing difficulties. DH spent the day there sorting her out, but was so knackered when he got home that he fell asleep at tea time. I've been stressing about these riots because it's a bit too close to home for comfort. Tottenham is 7 miles away from us, and we also have friends in Croydon. Apart from half of the local high st being closed on Tuesday, it was ok here. Still got scared this morning when I woken up by loud noises at 2am. It was just my idiot upstairs neighbours moving furniture around (or something else just as inconsiderate!), but it shook me up & it took ages to get back to sleep after.
Also hurt my knee on Tuesday. Not exactly sure how, but it was painful doing some of the exercises in the gym, so have to take it easier for a bit. Did my water aerobics class today, though. Was determined not to miss it.

Planning an evening stitching tonight. Might even post a pic soon. You still can't tell what it is yet, though!

Flat Eric - it's definately a frog. i was quite obsessed with frogs as a little child. he's very cute too. toads arent very cute, and they're more brown, and toads hide in mud.

hope the appointment went ok Louise? how very lovely of your mum.

it's been a really stressful week for practically everyone i know, and not all to due with riots. (aparently its becuasue some planet is in retrograde... a friend warned a few months ago that august would be aweful!) hugs to everyone feeling the pressure.

i did something Ive NEVER done today...i walked into sainsburys and walked out with only what i wanted and NOTHING more... and more shocking what i wanted was just ONE tub of cheese sauce!!! i then walked 10min to get to an indian corner shop a friend told me of and got paprika and cumin for much cheaper than the supermarket. and because i'd been so good i splashed out 79p on Chana Masala spices as its my fav takeaway side dish, and with dried mango in the mix it's not one i could make myself!

i also DIDNT buy any of the cross stitch mags in the CS . the lady assured me they'd not put any new one's out since last thurs so i didnt even look. odd i know! dont think i'm feeling myself to be honest.
i did however buy one of those narrow drawer short filing cabinets for 10.00 will have go pick it up tomorow or sat. my name in that CS is now officially "Cross Stitch Cate", as that's what the lady wrote on the sticker she put on the drawers:D. i'm hoping it will fit my bobbin case in one drawer (though prob too narrow), and pulled aside mags/charts waiting to be stitched in another, then card making papers, recycled papers ect... i want to get organised!:):rotfl:

thats brilliant thank you. :j I hope to start him this weekend. Its for a friend in work and I know she will love him :D

Now for my next question :rotfl: As well as the xmas cards I shall be stitching, I will be stitching a few bookmarks - frame craft sell 2 clear bookmark plastic sleeves for £1.25 but I need quite a few and wondered whether I might get them cheaper elsewhere ? Does anyone have any ideas ??

Flat Eric do you have access to a laminator, you can get about 4 or 5 bookmarks in an A4 sheet and then CAREFULLY trim them to size!
