Just wanted to say thank you! to Alisb for the magazines they cheered me up today as I was in hospital yesterday and was feeling really sorry for myself this morning - a million thank yous
In other news.......

Glad the magazines arrived - that didn't take too long. Sorry to hear you were in hospital yesterday hope it's nothing too serious.
I love this design think it's lovely and jolly.
23rd Spiral - glad today wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. Keept your chin up and as my FIL once said to me "don't let the b******s grind you down".Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

23rd - I'm so glad that the situation seems to have gone much more your way than you expected!! Go you for being prepared and knowing the facts
Catchooky - Thats lovely - what a pretty design
I would say that I usually start with dark colours and finish with white to keep the white cleaner and so that the white sits on top more evenly in corners/half stitches etc. I'm sure it told me to do that on some instructions for one of the recent things I've done?Challenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j

Im too mad to write it out again, sorry, but its here if ur interested, feel bad for winging but not explaining. Sorry. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=45194314&postcount=249
Sorry to hear how they treated you and I am glad things went as well as they could at your meeting. It angers me the way some people treat their employees. YOu lot were so lovely and kind when hubby was going through his troubles - he is still looking for work - sending off approx 15 applications a week - only getting very few interviews or replies. Every month I have to hold my breath to make sure everything is paid. It annoys me that he can't get any benefit and I earn just too much for tax credits.
Life is so so. I am 40 next week . Hubby has already apologised that it won't be much of a present but promises he will get a better one when he starts working. My parents have paid for a wee holiday for us - so looking forward to that.
Chicky you know where I am anytime you need a chat - same goes for any of you girls.
Off to do some research for work - don't have internet access at work to do it so have do some at home - I don't have to but it makes work easier.
Kind wishes to all

evening all. I started my christmas cards today :j they are small and simple mouseloft kits so something I can keep in my bag so I can get my cross stitch fix at a moment's notice particularly if i get delayed on public transport or bored during my lunchhour.
Its very interesting what you say about white/black threads - I always understood that you should start with the darker thread colours and finish with the lighter colours to avoid the lighter colours (whites) getting dirty from handling too much. Its interesting that some of you do the opposite for different reasons!!
Thank you for all your replies re the newton garden sampler - I have decided not to bid on the auction this time. If the kit was complete then I wouldn't mind paying the £7.50 plus postage but I woudn't want to stitch the design as it is but the designs individually and some I probably wouldn't stitch at all so not worth the expense at the moment. I am hopeful another one will come up.....
Hugs all xxx0 -
Alisb are you doing Michael Powell sampler too? If so, how many threads have to be used? started off with two hope thats okay..........a bit confused about the symbols too theyre not very clear but hoping to look at it with fresh eyes and have a lbm lol
wasnt a huge deal at the hospital, just exploratory, but had my first sedative with made me very talkative before i passed out! was advised not to work today which is probably a good thing as ive been no use to anyone! my bf rushed down straight from his work this morning and I slept all the time he was here lol!xNSD November 1/20 :money:

Catchooky - it does use 2 threads. There are 4 pages for normal stitches and 4 for back stitch where the main symbols are very light and in the background. I didn't realise this at first and struggled a bit. Have a good look and you will see what I mean. Any problems give me a shout and I can check my chart for you.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Love your pic catchooky - the colours are beautiful. I'm sure your colleague wil love it too. I agree with Ailsb I'm doing a MP kit and the charts are quite good with getting separate charts for backstitching. Will post update of Cottage Garden over the next few days - heading towards half way mark of xstitching :j
Glad you got on reasonably well at your meeting 23rd - just keep a record of all your facts so you can hit them with them should you need to in the future. Take care of yourself.
Love your cards Louise
As I was putting my last 'bit' of thread away yesterday - I was wondering when do you girls decide that a piece of thread is worth keeping or do you chuck it. I seem to go from one extreme to another :rotfl:
Take care everyone and hope you all have a good day (no stitching for me today):(SPC NO 041STARTED SW 04/14 - TARGET 05/16 - TOTAL LOSS 10ST 3.5LBS :dance:0 -
glad things went well 23rd.
well they took one of hubbys wisdom teeth out yesterday .......... and don't we know it!!!!! I was having hysterics at the list of "don''ts he was given" (eat, drink, exercise) - told him to bog off - I was walking round town within 2 days after having each kid!!!!
think there is something in the water - tiny slept 8-3 then back after milk until 7.44 = UNHEARD of - he is normally up at 12 and 6 too. yet i am still shattered. baby went to sleep at 8.........and is still snoring!! (hes been up at 6.30/ 7 recently)
Have put stitching on the back burner at the moment (it won't last long) as I really want to start "teaching" babywiggle so am busy preparing A3 sheets with a letter, number, shape, colour and theme for every week. then i have to look for some activities on those themes.
flat eric - i think (from the looking i did the other day) you can get some of those pics as seperate kits/ charts.... i also saw people selling cds with the designs on don't know if any of them will have any on.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
23rd glad things seemed to go better than you feared
chatchooky love you stitching
i was wondering about dark or light first on my titanic (the icebergs portholes etc) and also thought doing the dark first would stop the light getting grubby, not sure now
chicky glad tiny is sleeping betterSPC~12 ot 124

Whilst stitching a design/kit I keep any thread that's a couple of inches long or more, just incase I need a stitch or 2 in that colour later on. Once the design/kit is finished those bits then get chucked.
Thanks for all the comments about stitching light or dark colours first. I think I'll try a few white stitches today to see if I get any black coming through and switch if necessary.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
