My new GrandNephew - Leo - born today on our wedding anniversery! awwwwwwww:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Don't know what to do next - help. Was wondering about putting MP Cottage Garden to one side for a little while and doing a bit of something different - got first full page of xstitching done. In a way I doin't want to start off a bundle for ufos but .......... the little owl has arrived - what on earth possessed me to order 28ct evenweave - have only used it once before but I thought it would give a different effect :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
On another note, I would like to do the 12 days of xmas in the Margaret Sherry Book - probably for 2012 at the earliestbut was wondering (bearing in mind we are supposed to be mse) of using the threads that I have gathered over the years - many of which are 'make and number unknown'. I now realise the importance of keeping these finer details but I will say they are all neatly stored on bobbins in plastic storage container with separate compartments for various shades
. Can anyone see any problems with me doing this or things to watch out for along the way.
What a cutey sweetcarer -congratulations to you all :T What good timing for his arrival.
Take care everyone.SPC NO 041STARTED SW 04/14 - TARGET 05/16 - TOTAL LOSS 10ST 3.5LBS :dance:0 -
Evening all, haven't done any of my Gorjuss kit in forever. I really want to try and finish it tomorrow. Also I need to frame the wedding gift as I now have a frame. Lost my mojo though, plus I am back to work which means less time for anything
Hope you all have a good weekend :j0 -
Congrats on baby Leo sweetcarer! :jMy problem with the picture is the teddy's arms. Especially the right one - surely it can't be that short or is it just the angle?
I think it looks short because the arm is around his back.blue_eyed_girl wrote: »

Go for it! Makes the finished design totally unique if you use your own colours. My only advice would be to make sure you have enough of whatever colour before you start stitching. For example....the frogs cloak in 'lords a leaping', if you were to do it in say purple make sure you defo have enough purple to do the whole thing because if you run out part way you most likely couldn't get a match.
I know that sounds a really really obvious thing but it's my only piece of advice
I did the same thing for my 'No place like home' kit that I had. I didn't like some of the colours that came with the kit so dipped into my stash. Had no idea of make because they came with £shop kits that I originally bought for the aida. I just made sure I had lots of each colour so that I didn't run out.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I agree, it's such a shame after all the hard work that Chicky put in that it was such a small piece and not her words. Never mind. I too have quite a few designs in this issue that I am interested in including the caravans. My Dad has caravanned since the 1950.s and this is just perfect for him. Might do something for Christmas for him.
Away this weekend so can't do any of my MP wedding sample. I'm going to take a small perfumed design - I think it's vanilla.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

thanks girls.......
no reply from any of the other magsPLUS the prize they told me was being posted last friday still hasn't got here (it's not that I'm sitting on it if you were wondering). Feeel really bad chasing it up with them again ....what do you think?
was looking forward to a morning of curling up on sofa with the palace and then the afternoon sorting the house out. Instead I have spent all day glued to the sofa with tinywiggle winging at me (he is eventually on his playmat talking to the pretend cat). Gonna have an hour house sweep before I go to pick up babywiggle then chips for tea and an early night for the boys (I am SURE a 3 month old baby is supposed to nap for more then 10 mins between 7.30am and 4.30pm!!!)loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
I'm not saying much about the mag we were in, I might come across as a loon! :rotfl:
All I will say is I haven't bought it.
Chicky, if you want to chase them up about the parcel you could just say you were double checking it had been sent as you had to go out yesterday and was worried you had missed the delivery?
Got the Playroom kit done!Pic isn't great and the outline of the bow really doesn't stand out that much in real life but you get the idea.
Here's the finished piece,
Haven't yet chosen what to do next. Went through my kits and none leapt out at me but I'm sure one will be chosen over the weekend.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I'm home! Just spent the last hour or so catching up on all the posts that I missed.
Have to day that it's about 2 weeks since I picked up any stitching even though I took 2 kits with me!
Louise, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad - big hugs. All I can think to say is stay positive.
Can't remember who/what else I was going to comment on other than Keiss21 - I'm trying to do the same with the crafting sort of stuff. The cupcake business is going OK but people seem reluctant to spend money, even at craft markets, on handmade goods
Chicky - have to say I feel a bit annoyed about the article. You spent so much time putting everything together and then they miss most of it out. I know that they obviously have to work to a certain column size but they could've made a better job of it. Am undecided if to buy it or not - it's still nice to be in there.
Right, off to rescue the 2nd wash after unpacking and get the 2rd underway!!!
Good to be back:):)

I liked the article but overall was disappointed with the magazine and don't think I will be renewing my subscription - I took up the 5 issues for £5 offer and I think I have two left. re the article, it would have been nice if they had said more about us and it is indeed a shame that when they asked Chicky for more info, they didn't specify that the deadline was imminent....
Cross Stitcher landed on my mat today also but the free kit doesn't appeal and there isn't really much that inspires me to stitch in the mag. I'm almost tempted to cancel that as well.
I do like World of Cross Stitching and Cross Stitch Card Shop so I think I will stick with those publications. I don't understand why Cross Stitcher decided to make such significant changes. and what is it with this button fascination ? every publication I read seems to have something to do with stitched buttons in it ?
I'm not feeling the love for the sheep I am stitching - the white thread seems a really poor quality and the aida not much better so I'm going to start something else instead because its making me grumpy!! My black sheep order arrived yesterday and I am thinking of stitching the newton bear on some plastic canvas rather than the material supplied. I just need to check there are no 3/4 stitches....
Happy weekend all and hugs all round too x
eta Chicky - according to the info in this month's cross stitch crazy, each member of the club of the month gets a £5 past impressions voucher.... given there are at least 58 members in our club... it will be interesting to see how many (if any) they send....0
