Ollie is ready (I did change the colour of his beak)
I am working on the little bird now but it is not progressing very enthusiastically with all the fractional stitches ."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

congratulations bikerchick. your photos are fab and you look lovely :j:j:j:D:D:D:j:j:j:D:D:D
I am so glad its a bank holiday weekend - I haven't done any stitching today. Had an argument with my local travel office instead and spent the day looking for a new mobile - still undecided on that. My local travel office closed early yesterday - just as I got there :mad: then after I made a special trip today to get my pass, they couldn't supply the same because the (one person) on duty didn't have any (of the tickets I wanted) left ????? apparently the staff members all have their own stock (which is all locked away) and he had none left ???????????? but after I created lots of fuss (i don't normally get irate!) he managed to cobble together the ticket I needed.
I have a busy day tomorrow so not sure what stitching time I will have but Monday is definitely relax and stitch day :j:j:j
I am still stitching my diet themed magnets and I also fell in love with some eeyore kits on sewand$o which I couldn't afford but I found them somewhere else at half the price :j so have ordered them and hope I will get them this week. I love eeyore. I think he epitomizes me and he makes me smile everytime I see him. I also love tigger too! which is your favourite winnie the pooh character ?0 -
Piglet's my favourite. He's just sooooo cute!0

Hi folks
Hope you and your loved ones are all as well as maybe. Congrats to bikerchick on your recent wedding and all the best with the chemo. Magscat - glad you had a great time on the Trans-Siberian - Russia really is something else, isn't it?
Well, I've mainly been lurking and admiring everyone's work because Mum keeps borrowing my camera so I can't take any update shots. Nevertheless I do have a finish to show off. My John Clayton Fuchsias finally got finished on 12 May :j and here you are:

They took me just over a year to do, and would have taken a bit less had I not spent 2 solid months on my niece's Sunflower Girl, which she loved.
I have started my next project - "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" by John Singer Sargent, charted by Scarlet Quince. This is a seriously big project with 102,900 stitches - most of which involve blended threads. I'm stitching it on 16 count white aida. While gridding up, I was questioning my sanity at taking on such a project. While stitching the aida to my 27" x 12" frame, there was the odd obscenity as I ran the needle into my fingers.
Stitching has started, but camera availability permitting, I think that monthly updates will make more sense than weekly ones as the few hundred stitches that I have done already look very puny and miserable. Hopefully after a month I will have something worth showing. I am also using a floor stand for the first time, but am finding that this, combined with the size of the frame, makes checking the back and ending threads more difficult than on my lap frame.
I will now return to lurkdom as Mum has the camera again, but wishing you all the very best.
Big Zen hugs to all who want or need them.

Stunning work ladies. I'm letting the side down i'm afraid i just can't get started again.
Wonderfull work everyone...really puts me to shame. I have been knitting and sewing (patchwork), as well as being busy at work. The garden is coming along nicely too, so I haven't been idle!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Mountain Ash, those fuchias look beautiful, my husband loves fushias so I might have to stitch that one myself. 102,900 stitches for your new piece though, thats certainly a challenge. I wish u luck

mountain ash - nice to see you again, you dont only have to drop in when you've an update, i'm sure!
my computer isnt happy since the move and internet is soo slow i've chosen and sorted all the threads for my next little project whilst waiting for this screen to load! its the 90th birthday of a family friend whose more like a great aunty to me... i couldnt find the 90th card i've seen somewhere so think i'm doing her a little blue tit card from April 06 Cross Stitch Crazy. if i find the other one in time i'm sure the bird wont go to waste. so that's my next challenge: Val's birthday card
well, we finally got a tennant in the old house yesterday!! :j (so fri and sat am were frantic with the removal of old sofa, wardrobe and the last few bits and bobs and then cleaning and touching up the paint work ect. phew i am so glad it's over. i wasnt sure how i'd feel having strangers move into my house that i still own but actually it feels good. now just to be able to find anything in the sea of boxes around me! (did keep sewing stuff at the top, girls gotta get her priorities right!)
~~~
i havnt managed to get my photo of the wedding sampler off dad yet, and there's no comment from the happy coupple as they went away on honeymoon straight away... locking the very expensive chocolate (ie wont keep) wedding cake in their house much to the disgruntlement of the family!
favourite winnie the pooh character?
- eeyore is a definate favourite... there's a lot of me in him!
- love tigger for his bounce but wouldnt want him as a best friend, he'd do my head in!
- piglet is just awesome
... and since growing up and reading The TAO OF POOH, (which funily enough is acting as my mouse mat right now!), i've grown a fondness for pooh that i never had before. and more love still for piglet!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Oooo Pooh! I love all things Pooh! I generally like "real pooh" rather than Disney Pooh - but I have a particular fondness for Heffalumps and Woozles (I know, obscure!)
Of the mainstream characters - I think it must be Tigger. He's all the things that I am not - cheerful, bouncy etc, oh, and he's orange, and I am not orange either!0 -
I too like eeyore though they all have their loving points - Tigger is always happy and bouncy, pooh - thoughtful, piglet is just soooo sweet. I have a few tiny pics of them I've had for years. The one of Eeyore says "Some people write letters to some people and some don't. I'm not complaining but there it is" and my one of Pooh says "My spelling is wobbly. It's good spelling but it wobbles and the letters get in the wrong places". Makes me laugh everytime :laugh:
So I have a little update. I designed this myself. It is finished as you can see and is a Christmas pressie for my friend. Apologies I've blocked out most of the name on the bottom - I'm a bit paranoid about putting things like that on the net.
I have also finished the rocking horse until my friend gives birth and I can add the name on. I'll post that one later in the year when its complete.
