hello everyone, i hope you're enjoying your weekend?
i've been very good and done some overtime today (v.rare where i work), but it meant going past the Huge Coleman's craft warehouse, so as it wasnt my petrol i felt obliged to pop in... and am Very pleased that i spent less than £4 !!
I also went to KNIT OR SEW in Rushden, and the lovely lady there helped me choose the aida and threads for my cousins wedding sampler. £2.00 for 30cmx30cm antique white and 5 DMC threads at 80p, so 6.00 in total which i'm happy with. i've Never actually bought DMC threads or branded Aida before!but i wanted to get it right for the gift. yes i guess the internet would have been cheaper but i'm glad to support a local firm, and i wanted it now!:D

Lizzie and Louise, you might want to take email address out of your posts as this is public forum. Just to stop any spam."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Had a little stitch last night then nodded off on sofa and woke up cold and stiff at about 2am!
Have spent my birthday vouchers on some nice new clothes and had nails done too so can't do any housework (have told dh they take 6 hours to really dry thoroughly so he is insisting on doing tea and putting kids to bed so I don't ruin them!)
Might just squeeze in a little stitching later - plan is to mega work this week and then have a day off and concentrate on stitching - I seem to work better if I bribe myself!
smart thinking re the nails. glad you got something nice for yourself.
Caroline so pleased everything is ok with the baby.
chicky not long now till your stitching leave. bet you can't wait
23rd spiral. sounds like you had a good day and congrats on spending so little.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Morning
I started stitching my mothers day present yesterday afternoon thinking it would take me a week but at the rate I'm going it will be finished tonight :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm being very mse aswell as it uses 34 seed beads and instead of buying 250 for £3 (inc p+p) I found some in my stash of magazine cover freebies which are very similar colour and I'm going to use them instead :money:
Will post the completed picture as soon as its finished x0 -
Finally got some stitching time yesterday, so got another corner done of the Piglet cushion.
More stitching time today hopefully.0 -
I am just not in 'the zone' with this latest piece.
That, and I'm procrastinating about everthing I need to get done. Got some papers for work to fill in and email (the reason I am on the comp) running a course on the 11-13th March, which I still need to write the programme for (I have a good idea tho, which is a start) and I've got a week's worth of ironing sitting glaring at me which I NEED to do today cos the boys' school uniforms are in it. Plus I promised DS2 I would bake cakes with him when he gets back from the shop with his dad at 3.30pm. Oh, then I have to make the dinner. At least I can delegate the kids baths and the dishes to hubby lol
Time for stitching = zero
Ah well, tomorrow is another day :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

pm2326 - very thrifty on the seed beads. :T
*Louise* - i hope you find 15mins to yourself today. good luck with everything.
:j i finished the backstitch on Lemon Bowl from DMC Secret Scents last night!
Personally the lemon threads felt stiffer and didnt lie flat which was irritating, and scent smelt like lemon kitchen cleaner to me! I didnt like some of the outlining but couldnt see how to make it neater, and i wanted to add a motto but the aida is too frayed despite being stitched in a fame. But as the kit was only 1.50 i can't complain and i'll probably put it up for a while and then gift it on to an aunt.
i showed my OH and he asked why i'd added a swasticka... i still need to remove my cotton grid lines!
The motto i wanted to add was 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade'.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Hope everyone's having a good weekend! I usually have a Sunday like your having today Louise, but for once I've actually been productive. Got up early and went to the boot sale (only 12 cars so no bargains to be had!) and then took the kids for a couple of games of bowling. Since coming home, ironing = done, hoovering =done, dusting= done, dinner=done at lunchtime and all washed up. No one here is used to a tidy house at the weekend!! So stitching all evening for me23rdspiral wrote: »
~ well, i dont think you live too far from me... but that might change after you move i suppose?
I'm only moving to a village near where I live now, I won't say where as it's a smaller place. But I wasn't trying to sound so desperate
Oh, I just saw the lemon bowl. It's looking great! I have to admit I did the same as your OH at first and thought what on earth is that, I was thinking it spoiled the design a bit :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Not posted for a few days as I had nothing to say, except congrats to everyone who has posted pics of their progress - I'm ashamed of myself!
I'm on the final furlong of my Nov challenge, a Father Christmas on 28ct linen. It will come in handy for next Christmas now!
I've bought my first chart that runs over 6 pages and decided I will have to work from the top corner rather than the centre as I usually do. So I got one of those washable pens and marked up my aida in 10 stitch boxes. Got it a bit wrong so I carefully wetted the wrong bits round the edge to remove the lines. Left it to dry. Went back to it later only to find the water had seeped inward and washed away the correct lines - it was a right mess
So I've washed it out completely and need to start again. That's for tomorrow morning now as I need good daylight.
Just got home from a bead fair in Tiptree (where Wilkins jams are made) with my sister, and looks like I'm going to suckered into yet another craft ! I spent a bit on some basic beads etc and now going to look on E Bay for some cheap "how to" books!
Off for my afternoon nap now. :rotfl::rotfl:
