    Hello!

Ive done some Lavender and Lace designs. Isabellas Garden being my most recent completion.

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/57559900@N07/5300972392/

My daughter is called Isobel, so really I completed it for her. As with many of my completions it is waiting to be framed and has a special place mapped out on my daughters wall for it to hang.

My daughter is called Isabelle too and I just noticed that Moosmummy has an Isobel also, 3 people with good taste then:D.
Second time only I have asked for anything on here but could I have a ;) of Isabella's garden if the chart is not too massive for you to do please? I love Lavender and lace designs.
In my Isabelle's room she has 1 Winnie Pooh, 3 flower fairies, one row of teddies and a birth sampler all made by me or my late mum or my mil. She loves them.

Well my plans for returning the stuff to Next and putting the curtains up didn't happen. We all went to the park and I did loads of stitching on Rocky point. Must write a letter to Dimensions tomorrow as I have now 3 symbols which can't be stitched due to 2 colours running out:mad: Has anyone had any luck with this? The only address I can find is in America.

I am blending 4 strands on this one for some symbols but I have never done 5 before on anything else I have stitched.
I have Gracious era in my stash, may just go and gaze at it now:D

welcome again to the 2 new ladies today, can't believe how many new ladies have appeared in our cafe since Christmas, pull up a chair, get your stitching out and someone out the kettle on:T everyone is really nice and helpful here.

Hello everyone, long time lurker here. Actually, I did post almost a year ago when I was finishing a picture for my mil but have since been sidetracked by knitting...

Just a quick question, I dug out an old UFO from 2005  and had a quick look over the chart, and some stitches require 5 strands! I've never had a chart that called for more than 2 or 3 strands, has anyone else come across this? And is it more regular than I thought?

    Thank you!

The chart in question, {just in case anyone else has done it or has it in their collection} is White Lightning by John Seerey-Lester.

Anyway, I got this out of my stash to start a couple of months ago but I haven't actually opened it yet :( I will open it to have a read of the instructions and see if my understanding is the same as yours!

Hello everyone, haven't been on here for ages because I haven't stitched for ages!! About the White Lightning - I'd be surprised if it used all five strands - that would be equivalent really to the thickness of perle cotton and that would usually have to be on a bigger count that 28ct (or 14ct aida). If it's just a few stitches though it is probably correct, just to add depth.

I have been approached by a USA company about some of my charts again so I might restart my website. Although I am pretty sure I won't design again, I like stitching other peoples stuff too much!

    Thank you both :)
I just took a pic of the part on the chart that says 5 strands, from what I can gather it is a half stitch using 5 strands, so probably won't be as bulky as I first thought.
I guess I need to double check my charts in future to see if it says half cross stitch or not lol

    {deleted pic as question was answered THANK YOU!}

thrifty, I had Dimensions Peaceful Silhouette and ran out of 3 colours. They have a UK address on their website too. They supposedly sent out more threads to me, but I moved house, so I don't know if they ever came. It's a UFO lying around somewhere.

I'll probably start the stitch-along behind everyone else as I seem to have lost half the threads that are with the kit. I'll have to get out and pick up some more once the kids are back at school on the 6th, so I'll start on the 7th. I'm going to have to learn how to post pictures if we're meant to be showing our progress!
  • I will also start when mine arives, I havent started anything big in the last few days and am just stitching my daughters name in the shoe alphabet so i can attach it to her PE bag for school wile i wait for my kit arriving.

I have completed several Dimensions kits and all have required 5 strands at some point. Always for half stitches though. It's to add dimension and shading effects I think.
  • Hi
I would love to join you have lurked for a while but I think I need some motivation to achieve all the projects I want to this year!
I have been xstitching since I was about seven (my dad taught me) so for about 20 years!
This year I would really like to do two birth samplers as I did one for my daughter who has just turned three but have a nearly two year old and a six month old that I feel abit guilty that I have never had the chance to start theirs well even pick them yet. Telling myself that its ok and blaming it on having three young children not sure that excuse will last much longer though.
I would also like to do some disney princess type designs for my daughters bedroom wall and something for my little boy too as well as making some gifts as well and I have a baby afghan (SP) to finish as well but thats mainly backstitch.
hopefully everyone on here can keep me motivated and people on here understand why I enjoy xstitching most other people don't seem to get it

I had a nice surprise yesterday, the Dimensions European Bistro kit that I ordered turned up :j

Oh my is all I can say :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::D

Its going to be one hell of a project :rotfl:

Can I record here and now that this is my ten year project :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

and to the poster who said about stitching with 5 strands, this design features 2 strands for the cross stitch but for the half cross stitch, we have 3, 4 and 5 strands used  For some of the backstitch its 3 strands !!

    I think I need a lay down
  • Wow, I just looked up that European Bistro kit ! That looks impressive, it's bigger than anything I've ever done. Good luck with it, you've definitely got the right description by calling it a project :D

I've just realised my biggest hoop isn't big enough for me to finish my cut thru noah's ark. I can't do the widest parts, and I hate to crease up the bits I've already sewn by catching them in the hoop. I'm going to have to get a new stand and frame, but I've been missing my old one anyway. Where does everyone get their frames from? I got my old one from a little shop when I lived in Wales, but the sewing shops here are pretty limited.
