  • Evening folks,

    Big Zen hugs to all who want or need them, and welcome to the newbies.

    Just a quick update cos I'm knackered - my bro in law took my sister out last night as an early Valentine and they missed the bus home - but the kids were great so no real probs, just a later night than I expected!

    Here she is - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=SunflowerGirl-Week6-14Feb2011.jpg

    I have two weeks to do her head, arm, legs, all the rest of the half stitch and the remaining backstitch. I also have a day in London on Saturday next with a 6.30am start at the Who Do You Think You Are? family history show. Mild panic is starting to set in.

    Everyone's work looks great - happy Valentines to you all.

    Cheers
    Ro

    Hi everyone,

    some lovely stitching going on, well done.....

    I need your help pls ladies, I am thinking of giving the sampler below to one of my friends who are pregnant as I dont think I will get both Tatty Teds done in time but she now knows she's have a baby boy and chosen the colours for the nursery, navy and light blue....do you think i should unpick all the yellow border and change the colour to light blue or leave it as it is and just use blue lettering? :undecided also what colour frame??

    If it were me I would choose a blue colour for the lettering then use that same blue shade to do a third row of blocks outside the yellow ones, essentially framing the design with the darker colour and making it stand out more. The lettering will tie the colour in nicely to the border

    I would keep the yellow, it looks nice, and blue/yellow go well together.:)

    Ps - it's really cute!!:T

    PPS - I would go with a Navy frame as well :)

    chickywiggle - i'm glad you got something you wanted for valentines!:T (i'm a Gleek too!)
    Apocasaver - i hope hubby liked the card and the effort you went to? my chap seemed pleased with the xstitch card, and he gave me a totally non-romantic one... it had guinea pigs on but was sooo cute! good luck with the house swap! i'm so glad to hear you've found somewhere.

    GarnetLady - hello! welcome to the thread.

    pm - i def woundt unpick, maybeen navey in between the outer border of the yellow? and def a navey frame and navey text. its lovely!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    i could do with a little advice please!
    it's my sort of cousins wedding at the end of May... and i'd like to make her something to go with the honeymoon cash. it's this or machine sewing some stuff but i'm not sure what! i'm not sure if doing this is over the top or not. i havent seen her in years but butterflies and purple are good for her....
    what do you think?
    5447781688_5c68841f86_z.jpg
    BUT with me changing the words to their names and wedding date of course! :rotfl:
    do you think that'd look ok? i havent changed a chart before!
    i'm not too confident with backstitch but figure this would either cure that or kill me! :rotfl: and if i run out of time i could always just do the top bit and the heart? i'm so indecicive!
    I think it's a kettle - very appropriate for a sleepy little cat :) My girly cat likes to drink tea - we give her some in a bowl now, because she used to naughtily steal it from the cups and burn her tongue!
  • I've made a decision re the baby things I was imming and amming about... I am going for Bothy - Old McDonald...
    bothy.jpg
    What do you think? I thought it was much less babyish and more appropriate for their non-cutesy thing. I also figured if I was a bit late, it wouldn't matter :)
  • tellmeitsfriday - I like that design, like you said not too babyish, but still really nice. I'm sure they'll love it.
    23rdspiral - I like the first one as it's a larger design,so looks a bit more special/more effort put in to me. Plus purple is my favourite colour, so I'd like it anyway! Oh and with the backstitch, you should do a cut-thru, they've actually cured me of my hate of backstitch, as the designs look so much better and come to life when it's done :)
    Hubby liked the card, even said he'd go out and get me one if I really wanted, which for him is a big concession, although I told him not to bother.
    I'm another Gleek, my xmas pressie from hubby was tickets to the live tour at the o2 in june, can't wait :j
    pm - I agree with the others, don't unpick all your stitching. Navy in the spaces or an extra navy border would look good and tie in well with navy/blue letters.
    Loving the Old McDonald :j
    Ummm - what is cut through? :o
    Finished all the black on my doggie, starting now with black and dark grey mix. Can't find my camera anywhere but will see if I can get my old phone to talk to the computer at some point to show the progress.
    Do you want it?
    A cut thru is another bothy threads design. THey do a whole set, a lighthouse, a princess palace, a gypsy wagon. It's like someone;s sliced it through the middle and drawn what they've seen :)
