Has anyone here stitched any Michael Powell, I know someone mentioned his website adn I have fell in love with his tryptychs and scenes and am trying to chose which one to sew and would like any feedback on them.

Ohhh and I have a new sewing box.... well I need to paint adn laquer the outside and put new brass bits on it and reline the inside with some lovely wall paper - yes my darling OH has found me an old spanish Navy trunk as my sewing box, he thinks it will be too big...little does he realise.

    Yes.

I'm almost finished on the wedding sampler that somene kindly ;) to me and I have bought the Tenby harbour kit (it's enormous!) to do as my next big project. You know what to do if you'd like to do them too....;)

I've found the wedding sampler quite easy - there are lots of blocks of colours and the backstitch is actually quite enjoyable, really brings the design to life. Also, I like the way he gives you two charts - one with the cross stitch which has the backstitch in very faint lines on it, and one with the backstitch in bold and the cross stitch very faint underneath it. That way, you can cross reference them.

One criticism I would have is that the charts use some symbols that are very very similar so it's easy to get the colours mixed up.

I also really like his lighthouse series - anyone got them? Hmm? ;):rotfl:

this post has reminded me that I bought a couple of his minis a few years ago - they must still be in my stash trunk ! I'll have a look later and scan the charts - I always work from a copy so i can mark it up etc as I go. It also makes it easier to ;););)

The end bit I coloured made me smile to myself. When I first got back into stitching again I had hardly anything, there was so little that I decided to put the footstool to good use and use it for my (very small) stash.
Now though the footstool is rammed full and I have had to store some kits in the sideboard.
    I blame ebay bargains! :rotfl:

  • Ooops just realised that my inbox on here was full, so you might have had a bounce back if you tried to pm me about those organiser instructions,it's okay now. For the two that pm'd me, I will get these to you soon.:o
  • Hiya guys some of the things you are working on are lovely. Im currently stitching justin beiber from cross stitch crazy, my brother gets married on the 25th and one of my nieces to be is a huge fan so stitching that for her and a butterfly for the other one. Its quite a tight deadline though. I still have about 5 duplicate copies of cross stitch magazines if someone wants them, this includes this months cross stitch crazy minus the justin beiber page. If anyone would like them I can send them if you will reimburse the postage. when I came on here had nothing and thanks to the lovely members here I was helped to build up a small stash so its nice to give something back.

Evening Ladies! It's been a while, I hope everyone is well :) I haven't really stitched since we moved last May as the light in our new place is awful and I couldn't see what I was doing! But I have stopped being rediculous and have purchased a new lamp so it's full speed ahead with the stitching! I am still working on the santa from last year and my challenge is to finish it as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of the month! I started stitching again last week so I have made some progress, I'll get a pic up soon. Well I'm going to get on with it so I'll be off, it's great to be back though :)
