Hi all can I re-join you? I met some of you on the old UFO thread in 2009 and since then all but stopped stitching. Long story short I got into another craft quite heavily but had to give that up when I moved house in December. Anyways, my hands started twitching and I picked up my stitching again :D For those of you who remember I love Newton's law designs and I was planning to do this Alice design from heaven and earth designs. I did manage to finished the Newtons law design I was doing within that thread but I never gave it to my Mum for Christmas.

So I am now not working on anything. I want to do the Alice design but I want to get back stitching before doing something so grand and also I need some black adia. So I am starting with a few free designs and will go form there. Everyone is doing so well, and as always you chosse stunning kits to stitch, they are all amazing. I musst say though I do love the stocking designs, shame I have noone I couuld gift them too.

    Have a great week/end all :D

Sorry haven't been on for a while and haven't stitched anything this week due to having a couple of migraines.

I did manage to finish my coaster and mirror this morning.

Have aproblem with coaster, the cork wont stay in now that the fabric is in. Worried that if I use glue it will "bleed" through to the fabric. Any ideas gratefully received.

Off to bed now, migraines leave me feeling really tired.

Hugs to all and well done to all those that have finished projects.

    Coming on well :T

I've used Opus Frames in Beeston for a couple of pieces. The last thing I had framed was in October 09. I've just checked my bank statements and I paid £31.95 (not as cheap as *Louise* got hers done) and it looks about 10x8. Don't really know whether it's a good price or not - I don't frame a lot mainly due to the cost.

I'll post a picture later in the week as it's on my son's wall at the mo.

Just for comparison my frame is 18x20 and that was £22

I found a Polish framer down a wee side street. I took a couple of more unimportant designs first 'just in case' but he has been fine.

I have looked online but there doesn't seem to be anything much cheaper, and I prefer not having to do it myself tbh.

Hello - I remember you (and your HAED design);) Welcome back. What was the other craft that enticed you away lol?:j

I haven't managed any cross stitch in a couple of weeks. It has been really hectic. Hoping for a quiet day on Sunday though and can sit down and finish the back stitch on my newton bear. hope to catch up properly on here as well.

Haha, I saw that too yesterday and considered ordering it. But I didn't like the blue.

I think it would be really easy to make. I would have thought a fabric, interfacing sandwich for the main piece, and then hem around and attach the pockets in the required places. At least you can match the colour to your sofa then. The only thing i'd like to see is whether it's weighted at all. Wonder if I can get one, prod it about and send it back..... Hmm.....!

ooh, i like that! (well thats what i thought when i saw it last night..)

...now i've remembered i've actaully made something Very similar!

i'm dashing to work and cant see the tutorial in my saved projects file, but will look it up. it wasnt too hard at all. here's a pic of the pin cushion though, which i made detatchable and use all the time on the arm of my sofa and it doenst slide off. :)

    4319147334_14e7cb1770.jpg

i made it myself after the other half complained about always finding pins in the arm of the chair!
It's weighted so it stays put on the arm of the chair. Stuffed with rice with fibrefill on top. The middle is felt for needles, the 2 fabrics are from samples (left: Ikea), and the bottom is from an old sheet of my nan's. here's an 'arty' shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23rdspiral/4319149706/in/set-72157594450167277/

Ruth - if you weighted it right and used maybe felt on the bottom which is more grippy than slippy it might work... give me a month or so and i'll let you know,,, we're being gifted a leather sofa fingers crossed.

  • Oh look how organised you are. I keep mine in an old shoe box! I have the pattern on the arm of the sofa. I don't use a frame, so I just fold it up and put it all back in the box when I stop :)
