I was looking at a sewing machine in Aldi last week, (I've been looking in various places for over a year now!), but I never get round to buying one. I'm sure I'll be rubbish and it will be a total waste of money. But I love the thought of being good at it and being able to make things. I always spend far too much time worrying about things, so never get round to doing anything:rotfl:

Thing with me is, I used my Mum's sewing machine fine just before Christmas, threaded it myself and everything. It's just that it's mine and what if it goes wrong? Hehe...
The one I bought from Lidl was £59.99 and it's been good so far, I've left it all threaded up for now so that it's ready to use.

The sewing machine helps you to keep straight lines and you have control over the speed pedal, so you can go as slow or as fast as you like.

Will reply to PM's at lunchtime or might be tonight.

Also have ordered a Madeira cotton swatch from Barnyarns, so that should be here today, will look at the colour codes for the variegated threads in Palace, Noah's Ark, North Pole and others.

On another note, does anyone have the full Dictionary of Love (that's the only one I'm missing:()

Ruth-honey - wondering where to build my extension or whether to make my 2 boys share, would be Armageddon though :rotfl:

I'm sure someones done the love one (or doing it) sure they did.

On another note, we currently live in a downstairs 2 bedroom flat which has severe damp. We put in for a house in another area, where my brother lives, and have been told we need to clear arrears of rent first.
This is okay as my Dad said he will clear them for us at the end of March and then we will get on the transfer list which is about 6 months at the minute.
Baby is due in April so we decided to redecorate, and basically paint over the damp. So decided to start with the bathroom which hubby wanted to paint orange. Went to B&Q yesterday and got two tins of Dulux Orange paint reduced from £24.98 to £1.00 !!!!
So hubby started the white gloss yesterday and is going to do the walls today, so I can't help with this as paint fumes are bad for me due to asthma, so I get to sit on my bum all day and STITCH !!!

We've got bad damp here in our house. The council couldn't care less about it. The bathroom has even developed horrid fluffy mould and it's bad in my son's bedroom. We repainted in October with the special anti-mould paint, and it's still there slightly, but nowhere near as bad since. I'd definitely recommend that if you end up staying there a while. My friend (same sort of council house)repainted hers with normal paint and damp patches started appearing again within a month. But I hope you get the move you're looking for soon, then it won't really matter.

All the sewing machine enthusiasm on here has given me a kick. I'm going for it and I've asked hubby to buy me one for my birthday at the beginning of April! I'm already  but glad I'm going for it.
  • I squirt the mouldy/damp patches on my bathroom wall with Cillit Bang Mildew and then scrub with bleachy water. It works for about 6 weeks. (The Cillit Bang is about £3 but lasts a long time if you only use it for the mould. Nothing else worked in my experiments)

    *hugs* to Soulie.

i'm suposed to be having a house work day but am too distracted by just about everything. i'll get the bare minimum done though.

i'm taking an hour & 1/2 train ride tomorow, and have decided to take some Xstitch with me as i know i cant concentrate to read for that long. so i've thought ahead and cut some lenghts of pink for the cupcake and have even gridded the rest of it up to help with the counting, just using some cheap cotton i had as i havent a special pen or fishing line. i hope it works and doesnt ruin it somehow.
