  • i had a lucky escape from one of these firms who after going through everything wanted to charge me £1200 for the privalidge plus £18 per month which meant after their calculations that my creditors would receive 17 per month and on top of that if after 5 years they could negotiate a settlement figure they would want 5% of this.

The woman i met with said "your doing the right thing" etc

only when i came on hear did i really learn what these people are like so thank you mse

Don't get me started... these ads drive me mad and there are so many of them!! The other Picture ad is just as bad with the woman on the phone drinking her coffee! £25k, she makes it sound like she's borrowing 25p

Not to mention al the injury lawyers for you rubbish. Fall over in reception or off a ladder and you too can have £10k no questions asked!

Sorry thefoolonthehill but think you may be confusing them with other companies. We are not talking about the ads who offer IVA's or DMP's but the 'straight' loans companies with the cheesy ads.

I meant to say at the start of the message that the "debt doctor " ads were just as bad.
  • What about Bev and Kev with their new Volvo! Can't remember the name of the finance/car company.

Never been able to figure out why they have a shiny new Volvo and as a result suddenly have nicer clothes, a bigger house, better make up and are generally happier with the poorer equivalent looking on.

Surely if they have a larger loan they would not be able to offord all the other stuff!

Sad thing is - there are obviously enough ignorant people in the world to make it worth their while to produce adverts this bad.
Giving up is easy...... just keep on trying!

I hate that one too!

Have you noticed how they cut it at the end as he is about to header the ball! I always hope he never realised someone swapped it for a medicine ball and it smashed his nose across his face! :rotfl:

    Or a bowling ball.
Does that make me a bad person? :o:p

Not too bad. At least you wouldn't swap it for an anvil.

Thats it though! I don't know whether it's because we are concious of how crap these companies are or whether they are actually made by brilliant people in the advertising industry. Worringly and sadly I reckon it's the latter. They couldn't afford to produce and run these adverts if they weren't making them money! :(

No, you remember them so much because you get agitated. They make their money because people get desperate, and they're on all the time. If it's in your face - there's nothing to remember.

I wouldn't mind but the lazy sod bought a sit down one! His lawn is only about 10ft long! :rotfl:

Yep - garden the size of a postage stamp. I bet he's got a plasma screen TV in the shed!
