Picture rant .... ~blush~

I apologise in advance but have been stewing over this since yesterday afternoon and i can contain it no longer i need to rant!

That FLAMIN picture advert must be one of the worst loan ads yet! .... woman rings oh yeah i want a loan! ... for £25,000 oh fantastic id love a loan from you picture and of course ill pay back £48,000 for the privilage! LOL i mean my god! .... and its always put in a way that a family out there somwhere would think its a great idea to get them out of trouble when in reality to me its a form of taking advantage of people who dont have many options left

Sorry off to take a tranquilser

rant over :o Just one of the many things about money that wind me up!
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!

no the worst is a radio advert pushing IVAs ( on london radio)

    "you have debts around 15k"
    options
    go bankrupt
PAy your debts UNTIL YOU DIE
    call a freind IVAHELLFINANCE

This winds me up so much - 15k isnt a big deal, there are people on here paying off more than that on benefits on here, I certainly dont think they will be dead before they pay off thats why they have a DFD!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

"we just want to have everything in one place" oh yes, and secure it against our home so that we run the risk of being turfed out if we can't meet repayments, and to pay you 50% of the loan total back in interest for the privilege.

    Argh!

The one good thing about that advert is that OH, previously naive to the ways of loans, now shouts out "pay back £48k!!!" everytime he sees it on telly. I'm so proud!

I was with my dad when that ad came on and I was like 'pay back 48k that's insane' but he argued it's a great deal, that you pay back loads more than you borrow on a mortgage anyway.

    Still think he's wrong though.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • There's an ad on my local radio which I'm fed up with - it goes like this -

Are you in debt? Do have threats of the bailiffs coming? Etc.. etc...

We helped Mrs. Whoeveritwas REDUCE her debt from £20k to just £12k and REDUCE her monthly payments as well so she will be debtfree in just 60 months!

Just 60 months! It's still 5 years. But I don't understand how they have REDUCED the overall initial debt AND the monthly repayments. Where has the £8k gone?

Have they paid off the £8k and are writing that off? Or is, as I suspect the interest rate on the remaining £12k so large it will pay the company back the £8k as well?

I haven't rung them but have been curious.

Warning - don't be tempted by ads like this. Always ask yourself - what's in it for ME - then more importantly - what's in it for THEM?

They're flogging IVA's, so those sorts of figures are quite feasible....which is all well and good if that's the most appropriate solution for someone, but it's certainly not the painless way out from debt they promote it as....
  • I dont think i've seen any of these ads, what channels are they on?
