I used to work for them in the late nineties and the sale used to be great- no previous seasons stock was "recycled" into the current seasons sale. They never used to do the "one day mid season" sales either- they didn't need to. The stuff that didn't sell first time around used to be packed off to Next "seconds" stores to be sold there. Also the sale didn't used to drag on for so long making it a much more sought after event- a quick bargain hunt for currently fashionable clothes. They've joined the same sale ethos as many other retailers these days though and instead of being one of THE sales they now just form part of the sales in general. IMO anyway. I still like to try and get some clothes for the kids if there's some decent pyjamas or jeans but I wouldn't queue inshore for them. If I get them online then great but if not I'm not too fussed these days! XxxPlease remember to thank fellow MSE'rs :beer:0

I agree catalogues are a pain as they are so heavy! All I want is the kids section as I don't rate the adult clothes at all!
Had my vip slot on thursday 2 p.m. and spent £290 - although lots on a 2 to 4 week wait so will i ever get it.
And for the first time in my life got up at 4.30 a.m. this morning for the 5 a.m. local Next. - got there at 5 on the dot and there must have been already 300 people there. The doors opened but by the time I got half way down the queue they were letting one in one out - have not queued like that since my clubbing days!
No wonder nothing is left by the time normal people go!
And inside - OMG - it was carnage. People dragging massive bags around in a daze! Managed to get loads for my 4 kids, but had to wait 40 minutes just to pay at the tills. Another £230 in Next' pocket but personally it was definitely worth it! will probably make this a regular shop as online was so poor!
knackered but happy :rotfl:0 -
I went along to the Next store at the Grand Arcade in Wigan at 7am this morning.
It was great! Hardly anyone there! Just like last year, love it!
Managed to get so much more nicer stuff this year. Had to have a good rummage though as all the sizes were all over the place.
Anyway, I spent a grand total of £143 on kids clothes and was in and out within 40 minutes.

Well, i was in two minds about whether to go to the shop today, but i have decided against it. I just can't take my 11 week old baby with me and unfortunately, being breastfed, i can't leave him at home either. The nearest Next shops are both about an hour away in the car. Never mind. The main thing i wanted was some specific curtains. I guess i will just have to hope that they aren't in the sale and i will still be able to buy them with my Christmas money once they go back to selling regular stuff again. Maybe next year i will brave it out at 5am just for the experience! Or maybe i won't have to if i happen to get VIP!!Sarah.

Personally I think Next is over priced tat and have never understood the furore over the Next sale every year. Wouldn't touch their colthing with a barge pole whether full price or heavily discounted.0

NEXT clothes are pricey, but for a reason. They wash and last very well. I have 2 boys, so only buy good quality clothing as want to be able to pass down to 2nd child. Cheap clothing is not cost effective. I buy all their NEXT clothes in the summer and winter sales, 50% off everything makes the clothes very good value. Very pleased with all my purchases this morning :j0
