Hi everyone
Just running out of time but what's new there. My baby and his GF are home so all is well at DG towers. Just dropped them off in two for the traditional Xmas Eve crawl, hopefully a steady crawl as I have a promise of their attendance at the Midnight service.
Not had time to even read for a couple of days, but wanted to wish you all a Lovely Xmas and hope you get all your wish for, the kids go to bed early and life is good.
Take care all - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hello all, and a merry Christmas!
I've not been on here for ages (since the OH got home) and have not had chance to catch up with what everyone's doing. Hope all are as good as can be, and hugs to those who struggle at this time xx
We're just about ready for Christmas here. We're going to my parents tonight to celebrate Danish Christmas, so will have roast loin of pork with crackling, gravy, braised red cabbage, plain boiled potatoes and caramelised potatoes. Then we'll follow that with ris a l'amande which is basically cold rice pudding mixed with vanilla, ground almonds and whipped cream.
Tomorrow is our private Christmas day, and we're having haunch of venison with roast veggies and pudding to finish. If I find the energy, I'll also make smoked salmon pate as a starter.
Nothing much has happened since the OH got back, apart from a horrible couple of days where we did nothing but argue about whether he's going away for 6 months next year, but we've come to an agreement, and finally called a truce on Wednesday. I find myself counting the days each morning to see how many we have left together until he goes again. I've never been like that, but this last trip away seems to have knocked me sideways.
Anyway, no point in dwelling on it now. What happens, happens and we'll make the best of it, I'm sure.
On a purely 'me' note, the OH did tell me that he's already got my birthday present (it's on the 4th Jan). It's a course of 6 shooting lessons:eek:, so I'll be able to join a club and go game shooting, which is something I've always wanted to do. I'll say this for him, when it comes to amazing, perfect for someone presents, he's dead on the money each time
I wish everyone a peaceful and happy Christmas, with everything you hope and wish for to come true.

Evening everyone
all sorted here, all pressies wrapped. Ds2 is very excited, cannot
keep still or be quiet roll on bedtime tonight. We are driving up north tomorrow morning about 10am, am hoping the motorways will be quiet, should arrive at my mums about 1.30pm. Really didn't fancy driving tonight at all.
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. Having steak, sauteed potatos and veg for dinner tonight cooked by dh. Will roast some chestnuts later on top of wood burning stove. Just poured myself a Malibu & coke, going to chill out and enjoy some Christmas music.
Enjoy the rest of your evening. Take care

Evening all
I've had a productive Christmas Eve. I've made lentil pie and a nut roast for dinner tomorrow (will freeze leftovers), prepped all my veg, wrapped the presents from my brother to grandmothers, done 2 loads of washing, DW been on once and will probably go again later too (it's fixed). I just need to hoover and move the table. I'll lay it tomorrow as my family aren't coming til 1pm.
I still don't feel overly christmassy thoughdespite watching Miracle on 34th Street and The Santa Claus 2m and listening to Christmas music! I must be old now
I think I'm going to brave the roads and go to the pub to see my friends. My Dad said they are mostly ok. I'll park on the main road and walk the rest of way.
Had a bit of good news, my army man is on his way back here for a few dayshe set off at 3pm and it's a 7hr drive normally so he prob won't arrive to his parents til early hours! I'll hopefully see him Christmas Night or Boxing Day Night. He is only here for 3 days though
Have a fab Christmas all :xmassign: I'll probably post tomorrow morning too cos I'll be on my own!

We have had our christmas turkey meal which was lush....am glad it is done tho and we have the leftovers for sarnies etc. Can enjoy tomorrow without cooking loads....I like to have the time to spend with Ds not cooking, he needs too much support and attention on Christmas day to be able to cook at same time:cool:
hope you all have a lovely evening0 -
Haven't been on here for a very long time but read regularly and just want to say to each and every one of you
:xmastree: MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR :xmastree:xxxxxx0 -
Evening Everyone! really productive day here for once - ham cooked, mince pies baked, bread baked, cake marzipanned and iced, beds changed and two loads of washing done - all before 2pm! As churchwarden, I have since been to church for both Lighting the Christmas Tree services ( approx. 600 at each service!) and will be going back later to sing in the choir for Midnight mass. Finally, I feel Christmas is here! For me it alwaysbegins with Once in Royal David's City sung at Kings College - this year I had to be content with just listening to that on the car radio instead of the whole thing while I'm baking.
Anyway - just wanted to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas! Take care and stay warm and safe.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0
