    Almost birthday twins!

I am at this moment in time, a happy bunny :D.

I can't remember if I wrote about it on my old diary so I apologise if it's old news but I'll tell you anyway. I emailed the dive centre at our first holiday island to see if my current diving qualification would be suitable (I can only dive to 12m) and the answer was that whilst there were a few sites that would be ok, the majority were somewhat deeper. Manta Point is around 16m depth for instance. It was suggested that it would be worth upgrading to Open Water before I go.

Only problem with that was that I would have to do a further two dives here in the UK and all the associated extra skills blah blah and I really don't want to dive in the Uk, it's too cold and I'd need a massive wetsuit. I didn't wear one in Egypt as I didn't feel comfortable but you obviously can't do that here.

The other option was to do it in the Maldives but I don't want to spend my holiday doing theory so I just had no idea what to do about it :(

    Then I struck gold :rotfl:

After some to-ing and fro-ing with the Maldives dive centre I have decided that I am going to do all of the extra skills in a (heated) pool here with a local dive centre and then do my two qualifying dives in the Maldives :T. It means I get lots of time to practice and get comfy before I go and then just need to do two dives in the fab Indian Ocean. It's not very MSE unfortunately as I'll almost end up paying twice but it seems the ideal solution as it misses out all the things I don't want to do and means I wont feel pressured into cramming it all in before I go. The actual cost in the Maldives is the same as if I just did two recreational dives anyway so I'm not really losing out there.

Hats off to the Maldives dive centre, they email back straight away and have been really helpful. Just waiting for local dive centre to reply now
