Oh yes I would love to know what your sister thinks of my chosen places! I initially picked Phuket for the beach but I think it's going to be full of people selling stuff and hassle, which I don't want!
I think you might like this then Choc

That's where I want to go - lots of jungle trekking, kayaking etc
The two islands I am planning on doing are only a little boat ride from there. I think it will be more of an adventure type holiday than two weeks on a beach but thought it would be nice to try and experience some different things

Def experience as much as you can. Kayaking is fab....we're hoping to buy our own this year (pending wedding costs!) and take them all over the place. Love the link! Very jealous! I'm SO excited for you as think you'll have an amazing time :j:j:D0 -

Hi Jody
Thailand is amazing, I did a trek in the jungle staying in the huts with the villagers and went to the beach at Koh Samet, not very touristy at all there. I loved Bangkok, crazy place though!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Hi Jody thanks for asking about DD. She had a bad chest infection and ear infection in both ears and was very poorly. what made the situation worse was the fact I had taken her to the GP fri only to be told she had a virus and to give calpol (poor sod is only 9months so couldn't exactly tell us what was wrong); well anyhow by exmas day she had a raging temp and was screaming the house down in pain. surfice (sp?) to say was not a happy bunny when I found out it wasnt a virus!!! lots better now though thank god!
sorry to hear about the job; can the landlady do that without giving you notice??'£5000 by hook or by crook' challenge - £4168/£5000

Try and find the silver lining and think of the extra time with OH.
Plus you did say you wanted to spend more time with your loved ones.....i know the loss of money is a pain but there is always a glimmer of something positive

I am glad to hear your little one is better Pink! It's horrible when they are ill and there isn't much you can do for them
The landlady can technically do what she likes! I always knew I would be the first to go as I have always worked on a self employed basis so I get paid more than the others...was good enough for her back in June when she couldn't get staff! What has annoyed me is that on my last shift before Xmas, when she was hinting about a 'reshuffle', I said to her that if she was letting me go or cutting my shifts I just wanted to know asap. She has just left it till the last possible minute to tell me cos she is so gutless . There was no 'I'm sorry' or 'thanks for your heard work' or anything, she told me then left! Oh she did add that she would call me if they got stuck...yeah I don't think so darlin' *insert smilie with middle finger up*. What has really annoyed me is that I haven't been laid off because the business is rubbish (which I would understand), I have been let go because the guy who was running the restaurant has totally c0cked it up and owes her lots of money, he is also an alcoholic with a recent drug addiction so she has made him an employee and given him loads of hours, I assume to pay her back, at the expense of me and someone else.
The girl I work with on Sunday nights came in last night and said that the landlady told her on New Years Eve that she was changing her shift to a Saturday night (my old shift), Steph can't do Saturday night as she works all day Saturday and the landlady kinda said 'tough'! Anyway, the rota had been moved last night - specifically so we couldn't see it, sneaky gits. Steph went and found it in the office upstairs and she is no longer on it . We assume that she is also going but the landlady hasn't had the decency to tell her. It's disgusting. I can't say I am sorry to be leaving, I have never worked somewhere so disorganised and political with masses of backstabbing thrown in for good measure.
The girl I took over from was still there when the landlady told me and she couldn't believe she was getting rid of me. I actually also saw the 2 full time bar guys and they both said that where the landlady has given this restaurant guy all these hours to suit them both that their shifts are awful - neither are happy and both are looking for other jobs. She will end up with no staff and that's what she deserves!
Anyway............................
That obviously throws a rather large spanner in all my plans (why oh why does this keep happening?). I guess I am fortunate in that I can survive without it, I wont be able to save anywhere near as much and things will be tight but I don't need the money. Also, trying to be positive, my holiday is unaffected by this as I already have the money saved. I would have been heartbroken if it meant I couldn't go so I am grateful for that at least. It does mean that Thailand takes a back seat for now but where there is a will there's a way. Not sure if I am going to rush back to another pub job, I may leave it a few months and see how tight things are, if I need to find another job then I will but fingers crossed I wont need to.
I obviously need to re-do my SOA but it's on my work laptop so I will play with it tomorrow. On the positive side, my Insurance DD ends this month so I have a spare £30 for 3 months, then my HMRC tax credit repayment of £40 ends in May. I am keeping fingers and legs crossed that car doesn't need too much work for MOT which is due very soon. Going to centreparcs in a few weeks as well so will have to work out the best cost effective way or eating, I will probably take some food etc with me.
And to top it all off, I've woken up to a massive lump on my face, I have no idea what has caused it but I look a bit like a hamster . Not sure if it's a really savage under the skin spot!?! Not pretty!

Hi Jody
Sorry to hear about your job and the disrespectful way the landlady treated you
I don't blame you for not rushing out to get another one, it will be nice to have some extra time to yourself, more time to spend on your new wii maybe!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)
