People with mental health issues are reassessed quite regularly, 6 months is not uncommon. A long term physical disability tends to be at longer intervals.

ATOS medical professionals (I won't call them doctors simply because most are not) can earn very large salaries if they work full time and keep assessment times as short as possible. Salaries of £200k p.a are certainly achievable if they put the hours in. So it is in their interests to recommend regular reassessments to the DWP when making conclusions in their reports. It a way of making sure there are enough people coming through the door. I can't say I blame them.

That way, ATOS (the company) are happy - it's a hugely profitable business contract that they do not want to lose, the medical professionals are happy because of the financial rewards, the DWP are happy because it creates work internally and keeps jobs safe, the government are happy because it appears that they are being tough on claimants, and most of the general working public are happy because they perceive a huge amount of wastage in the benefits system.

So everyones happy, with the exception of the people who have the misfortune to have to claim it. They tend to get the Sh***y end of the stick, but you know the old saying "you can't please all of the people.....

to me any company that does things for money, longer contracts that doesnt benefit the people is simply corruption to me. this is the definition of corruption.

err no not really. It does benefit people - the customer that is paying the fees - HM Government. They are certainly not complaining - they see ATOS as doing a very good job and well worth the money that it is costing them.
So how can you say this is corruption?
  • You can see the way things are going.

Within about 10 years or less there will be no such a thing as disability.

In order to have enough money to keep paying the pensioners, (they have to look after this group as they have the biggest block of votes in the country) everyone else on benefit will have to suffer.

And with everyone having to work for their JSA that will take care of the rising unemployment figures.

Hey you lay off them!! I'll be joining that crowd eventually. I don't want to find that that somebody has been messing about with the meagre pension that I will get.

As for block votes, you would be very surprised to know that over the past 10 years there has been a steady decline in the number of 'grey' voters. They have given up as they feel that there is no one fit enough to run the country. The biggest vote, and it is increasing rapidly, is the 18 - 25 category. Maybe they are hoping for a rosy future! That has been promised to all since 1948!!

goverment payrolled doctors and nurses benefiting public. Are you serious?

Its government payrolled scientists being told what to say by the govt otherwise their funding will get cut. let me give you a example global warming. We all know that global warming is a scam as it came on the news showing climagate gate scientists making up fraudulent data to support their global warming theory. these scientists are govt payrolled. theres are so many scientists against this crazy global warming :rotfl:

Its a insult to a childs intelligence, saying co2 is bad and we need to get rid of it when in fact co2 is the lifeforce of plants and without it plants will die.

I love the conspiracy theory here - it completely ignores the fact that the government (More accurately their servants) make the decision in every case.

Of course, they do make the decision based on the ATOS report, as they are told that has to be the overiding evidence source.

ie, the claimaint can supply other evidence, but ATOS's report is taken as the gospel according to Cameron.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

They would not dare to complain, too much at stake for them....
