As there is software around to downgrade most PSPs and they can be obtained cheaper than this I am not too sure this is such a good deal.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.0 -

You do know it's easy to downdate PSPs from 2.71 firmware to 1.5? I had a 2.6 firmware PSP from Tesco - updated to 2.71, then downdated to 1.5. Works great! You're paying extra money for something you can do yourself. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Is this really easy now MyUser? I've already done mine over a year ago but I know some work colleagues are wanting to get one but only a 1.5 one.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I did think of doing it myself but it's not as easy as it sounds. My mate managed to do it but apparently the downgrade method uses an unstable tiff exploit? Either way, it took him over 30 attempts for the flash to go through. So I thought sod it and bought this one.
Besides it's a tenner less than RRP and I don't have to buy any games0 -

Yep, as long as you follow the instructions. You also need to make sure you've got the right mobo in the PSP, as certain ones cannot be downdated. This is also easy to check. There are posts on an old Tesco Misprice Discussion thread about it when Tesco so kindly gave a lot of us free PSPs.I'll PM you the websites that deal with downdating. Don't be put off by the warning about bricking your PSP - as said, if you follow the instructions to the letter, you won't brick it. I've done mine twice now, as my son accidentally updated the damn firmware to 2.71 again!

Silly question but why would you want to downgrade the firmware?0

Firstly, there's Homebrew (google it). The updated firmware stops you using homebrew.
Secondly, there's a really naughty reason for downdating which cannot be mentioned here.
Although you downdate the firmware, programs like DevHook make the PSP think it's running a more update to date firmware when you need it to (i.e. when playing games which require 2.71 firmware, etc.)In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Why can't it be lol.
You can use a loader to play the games from a memory stick instead of buying them. The homebrew aspect is the stuff like Nintendo emulators and Sega Megadrive stuff to name a view. Although I'm just playing the original version of Tetris for now.0 -
