    Hi Everyone
Can I ask a question, when you sell on Ebay how do you work out how much the postage is going to be? I really want to get rid of a few box sets but am thinking they will be quite expensive to post so may not be worth it? Also hoping to resell the snowman knitting pattern I bought on there as I have made it now for my Niece and with the cost of the wool included it didnt work out as cheap as Id hoped so would be nice to get some of my costs back

To work out postage, I always weigh whatever I'm selling, I just use my normal kitchen scales. Then I go on the Royal Mail website and check the price for second class post. Make sure you check the size of the package as some might go as large letter and some will need to be parcel. I always add a little bit to the cost just in case I've not weighed correctly.

  • Thanks NickyBo - Im going to have to invest in some kitchen scales oops! or maybe can use MIL at the weekend. Also if i was to send a dvd box set do you think it would be ok if i wrapped it in bubblewrap then brown paper or should i put it in a box? (just thought the box might make it more expensive to post because of the size) Thanks
  • claros i think there is a limit on the postage amount for dvds?
if so set it to the max it allows you , then don't start at 99p
so if its going to cost £4 to post but it will only let you put in £2 make sure you start at £2.99 or you will be out of pocket
i'd wrap in bubble wrap then a big jiffy bag
  • Thanks for the advice Sparkleychel. I am going to try and make time tomorrow to photograph everything I want to sell - as Ive never sold on ebay before its probably going to take me a while to work out what Im doing! Does anyone know if they will have any more of those free listing days before Christmas?

    does anyone do global ?
what are the rewards? and how many points needed ?
ive only just started and most i've had have been 30 or 35 points
just wondered what that equates to :D

I do global, its not too bad, you may find you get screened out half way through, but in all honestly its the same with all, If you get a survey offering free prize draws, avoid them your working for nothing.

Payout is at 1,000 points, its not an english company, but you get sent a cheque in sterling, my last claim was just over the 1,000 points and I got £32 and few pence, before i've had £28. Its not the fastest of payouts, but I've found them reliable, takes 6 to 8 weeks for the payment to come, I average about 1 payout a year. xx

Elysia - Thank you for doing a secret santa, our threads quiet, and in all honeslty with the last few months of courts, the irish lot, and OU, I've been coming, going and inbetween, so thank you for keeping the tradation going. If hadn't been all over place you'd had an extra one this yr.

The craft fair........ never again.... got there at 9.15 to unload, started at 11, by 1pm I had had enough, but we had to stay till 3, car been blocked in, and had raffle tickets....... but Miss Hoodie won 3 posh lollies on sticks...

Then the fun starts......... I lent forward and think slipped a disc, so the air was blue!! Then got home Miss Hoodie looks pale,we put down to being out most of sat day, took her to Blists Hill, (it was fab, and mse as dad and I had freebie pass) sat ngt I feel sick........then thought we were in an episode of Little Britain, poor kid shattered today, not eat properly, struggling to get her to drink, high temp and been sick again not as bad, so off school 2mor as well, which went down like a lead ballon, I think thats coz they have had their rear kicked over the issues with Miss Hoodie, they ignored the last teacher when she said she needed help Now mental health team on board, there not taking no for an answer.

Rang to get app for us both for GP, earliest they could see us middle next week, but will do a telephone consultation for Miss Hoodie ((more to cover us with school and if theres anything we need to do), so i figured i'd go to NHS walk in centre....... told theres a delay, ok, about 30 mins, fine, its walk in as well as their patients... 2 hrs later got saw, gp couldn't do anything as the only medical records are from visits there (1st allergy attack and sunburn!), and that if I was his patient he would do x,y,z.... can you tell that to my GP on no we can't...... if your still in pain call out of hrs docs! (which are partly manned with the NHS centre!), got home more pain than when we started... rang to get a telpehone call for 2mor, got a different receptionist, - within 5 mins had call from GP, apologied that he wouldn't be able to see me tonight, fuming re NHS centre, said rest... theres not much else can do!! and he's pushed me in 2mor, he even apologies it wasn't till the afternoon.

Some good news, my first assisgnment I got 85 on, I really thought Id lost the plot and just babbled... So will get a bottle of wine for when I will enjoy it!

Hope everyone ok... Update on yougov just need 50p........ xxxx

I haven't redeemed yet but you need 1000 market points which is worth $50 so whatever that converts to at the time. They send you a cheque on sterling but they say it takes 6-8 weeks to arrive.

Deary me that was a read! lol

Sparklychel - loving the draft excluder well done you, and the wallpaper in the background is lovely to!

Mum2one - Just reading that lot tired me out! Phew! Hope you and Miss Hoodie get well soon!

Claros - If you go onto your Facebook and type in something like Cheap and Free or For Sale you may well have a group in your local area set up that you can join. There are a few in my area! The all you do is upload pictures or and album of the things you want to sell with the pirice and a description underneath and then if people want it they will either comment on your photo or message you and then you can arrange to meet and exchange! I love it! Especiallt for some of the heavier things that would cost a fortune to post if for sale on ebay!

NickyBo - Hope your son enjoys his birthday hun!

Foxy - Will be posting The Stig today for you hun!

Morning everyone. Nice to see everyone being really chatty. I was in bed by 9.30 last night as computer battery died, and I couldn't be bothered to got downstairs for the lead. :)

Morning Legend - how's DS today?

Hiya Julie - how are you do hun?

Ginger - luny is T0luna. Did you pm me a list of sites you're on? I'm on 30 odd, so I can give you a list of what you're missing. ;)

Mum2one - it never rains but it pours! Blimey, you never have anything easy do you? Poor thing. I hope you and Miss Hoodie feel better soon.

Claros - Selling on ebay is easier now than it's ever been. Honestly! Look at the prices other things are going for to get a rough idea. Then when you are actually listing it, when it asks for postage costs there is a postage estimator button (click on that) and then it will tell you how much your parcel will cost to send. I'd wrap it up first as I've been caught out with that before. There is a guide to ebay on post two to help you.

Samba - sorry to hear about your broken laptop. Isn't it always the way? You put it out of the way of the kids and you break it yourself! My latest thing is putting things safe - so safe, I can never find them again. Grrr. LOL.

Yesterday the £60 focus group tracked in my account, so as I already had £14 in there, it was (ovbiously) over the £20 payout threashold, so I withdrew the lot as paypal. That was nice. :D

I would normally get a payment before I recommend any site, but it all seems to be going through quickly. Just incase no-one is on this site, it's called Elite Sh0pping F0rum - but you CANNOT join if you are already on Rewarded Opinions. There is no referal so just go ahead and join. :D
