    Hello all :j
Tiling all done now all bar the grouting:T Now its just the pantry to be knocked down, walls to be painted then flooring and its done:T

Not done much today except empty cupboards in the pine dresser so even more boxes of ''stuff'' -some will be for christmas pressies, some charity shop -determined to have a real clear out. I can just about get to my box of medication..............lol
I did mess about with packing xmas stuff and managed to get one sons ''christmas in a box'' thats now ''christmas in a bag''.................found a red voile gift bag that the soft tree and fabric decorations fitted in and that'll fit in his shoe box with his scarf and wrist warmers..........then the bad news...........friend of mine had a car accident on Wednesday.....only heard today when her daughter rang. Her car ran into another and she's ended up with broken leg and neck -not sure how bad the neck is till her MRI results are through -she's at the same hospital Bills was at so hope she gets better treatment than he did.............she's in different department so hopefully she will. Getting to see her is tricky as the bus journey takes an hour and isn't good for my back and I know I coudn't walk from where it stops to the hospital entrance so I've written to her. She'll undertstand anyway as she's disabled herself and that was before all this happened. It's her birthday next week so its put the damper on that and depending on how she gets on.
Bills stomachs not been so good these last few days.......honest, just when one thing seems to go right something else happens. Oh well, c'est la vie' as they say.............:o

    Hope youre all ok:)

:( Mary, sounds like you're all in the wars.

My cake tin arrived and it is glorious. I might need to make festive cakes weekly.

sugarspun = I know............still it could always be a lot lot worse I always think though I don't think my friend would feel like that just now...........give her time. She's been through an awful lot and come through smiling.

Now tiles are up, kitchen curtains look awful  Felt sure I'd got some more tucked away somewhere and I had :T Just goes to show -pays sometimes not to throw everything away. So, we'll try them tomorrow and see what they look like when they're up.
After foraging I also found some tea towels -pretty floral ones-never used and 3 aprons, the striped sort.............so few more bits to add to ''kitchen pressies''.....................lol They're in the wash to freshen them up and cleaning girl will iron them next week (though she doesn't know it yet........lol)
Think a few people will be having apron, tea towel, storage jar full of choccys, kitchen ''kebab''(skewer with brillo pads and scrourers on it) the odd cook book I've had as a freebie, and chopping boards:)

I made my first Crimbo cake this afternoon using a brand new recipe and it looks marvellous.

Next one is on Sunday then all should be done unless anyone else would like to buy one at work. Might ask around next week and see if anyone does

    Falafelling Next!

I ordered two sets of curtains in the sale, they arrived torn - obviously from the machine they use to seal the packaging. I called and asked for an exchange, they promised to call me back, no call. I sent an email, no reply. I called again, the call centre lady said that since I'd emailed she couldn't help me. I emailed again ... and the curtains are out of stock and out of the returns timeframe, so as a gesture of goodwill they are refunding me £20 on my £100 curtains and if I'd like to buy new curtains at full price I can have free delivery. £80 on torn curtains!!!

I think they can bog off and take their useless customer service with them.

I think as the curtains are not fit for purpose you should be due a refund Sugarspun. Either ring again and demand to speak to a manager or write to them saying you want a full refund as the curtains are torn and not fit for purpose.

Sugarspun -I agree with rufus - what an appalling customer service and a dreadful outcome. Hope you get this sorted.

I'm just about to start pickling some pears for Christmas in a little bit as part of today's Christmas preparations

I repaired them just to get them up, so now they are fit for purpose :(

Edit: I did send them a blistering email though. Seriously, £20 credit for the inconvenience and free delivery in case I'd like, perhaps, to order some new ones! Pfft.

    Hello all :j

sugarspun -was just going to repeat what others have said but if you got them repaired enough to be able to use them I suppose thats something but the cheek of the firm !! Can they be reported to trading standards or something like that ?

Not much done today as chappie came and did the grouting so tiles are now done -yippee:T
Did start on second wrist warmer so thats something and some 'wood effect' gift boxes arrived I'd sent for (5 for £1)-about dvd /video size but good size for all sorts of bits for birthdays next year if I don't use them for christmas.

    Hope you're all ok:)

    Evening everyone

OH is home safe and sound and he brought me back some lovely goodies. I will try to get some photos done tomorrow and put them on my blog. We have had quite a lazy day today as he was really jet lagged. We went for a walk up the town as we needed to get some food in but we couldnt be bothered to go to get the car (have to travel on the train to my Dad's as he parked it on his drive) so we are going there tomorrow.

We bought a box of choclates in Co-op while we were up the town for his Mum for Chriistmas, they are on offer at £3 for the large box instead of £6.50. We also bought a box of small chocolate biscuits and some chocolate orange pieces (there own make, they are lovely and only £1 a box) to put away for our own Christmas.
