Hi everyone
Susan, lovely to hear from you, so glad everything went well for you in hospital and you've back here :j
Mary, at long last you've managed to speak to someone in authority about OH. It's really interesting reading about all your Xmas and house progress each day.
I start to imagine each of you living nearby because even though scattered everywhere it feels as though we are meeting for a coffee and a natter.
Today I was ringing the local hospital because an outpatients appt turned up in DS's name and address yet the Dear.... was to someone else. I thought it strange the hospital had DS's details in the first place. As it happened he did see a doctor a few days before he left, he's away until Christmas. Of course when I phoned, the person that deals with it wasn't in, I thought of Mary straight away LOL
Sugarspun, how's your OH?
Rufus, I remember when you first mentioned your OH going. At the time it seemed October was a long time in the future.
On that topic, a couple of pages ago one of the ladies mentioned 'only 2 weeks to go' and I had a panic, until I realised it was about a performance0 -
Anglea - thats bad sending letters out to the wrong people isnt it. I agree October came round really fast, I think what with what happened with OH's Dad having his heart attack and we were tied up there with him for two weeks and then it was only a week away. It doesnt seem real that he is so far away lol, when he rings its as clear as if he was just next door and yesterday we were both watching Sky News at the same time and talking about it, felt weird.
I have done a bit of sewing this morning, got a cushion finished off for a customer, just need her to see it and pay for it so I can send it off. Also made a start on a table runner I have an order for but can't finish it as I am waiting for them to let me know the length they want it. And I finished off another cushion cover that I was making but need to get a pad for it, its for my shop but will have to wait until I get my camera back.0 -
Hello all :j
Thankfully a day without builders.........well apart from a bit of plastering they did first thing.......so been googling for a new deep fat fryer......I hate them but OH loves them.......found one in the end so he's happy.........and burying himself under the endless dishes/pans etc. we seem to have 'bred' over the years -think somehow he's managing to find space for them (wish he hadn't.....could do with chucking some out.........lol)
So, no pressie stuff done today........to be honest I looked at it all and didn't know where to start........so I didn't..........lol
Angela - thats really bad a letter going to the wrong person. I'd have been really cross if I'd have been the person who it should have gone to.
Bad enough with all the appt letters we get then when I ring to check I find appts cancelled but they just hadn't told us:mad:
Had letter today from the 'bone lady' I saw way back in the Spring.........I had a blood test just after I saw her and only just received a letter to say my 'something or other' was lower than it should be so I have to double my calcium tablets !! She must have had the blood test result before now........all those months and I could have been improving things if I'd known...............******** words fail me ! Due to see her in November and I'll let her know-firm but fair (as they say)
susan - glad you're back.......love the way you say ''I had a heart operation'' like it was nothing important............lol Your hospital sounds a darn site better than ours-lucky you........:)
Just realised........I've not covered a gravy tub this year !!!!! Has to be rectified..........could use them to put the wrist warmers in with a hot choc.sachet and its a 'winter warmer tub'.............lol
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

DH is getting a day pass today, they think they finally have a diagnosis for him and while it isn't curable it is eminently manageable. Not going to say what it is as it's so rare and weird there's been an episode of House about it and it would be a bit identifying
I have emptied four more boxes today and am about to flatten them plus one that went unflattened yesterday, and then head off to pick up some curtain poles for the beastling's bedroom. I should check the cost of curtain rings too while I'm there, Ikea have 10 for 3 euro and I think the local shop are much more expensive but we'll see. My Christmas cards are all written and be-enveloped and the family gifts are wrapped and packed, and if I remember today there's a birthday gift I can package to go back with my parents for postage plus I need to send my niece's birthday gift on Monday.
OOOOOOOOOOH and good news for me, a load of my jeans were really tight and I was despairing of my fat bottom. But I bought twelve pairs of these jeans when they were £1 on Littlewoods or somesuch and just put on a pair I'd never worn before this morning and they fit perfectly, even a little loose - so obviously the tumble dryer has been shrinking my jeans and it wasn't my bum increasing at all. Good times.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -
Hi Sugarspun, good news about the jeans, wish that was my excuse too lol. Glad they have diagnosed OH, may be he will get some proper help now.
I was sorting out my gifts again this morning. Had a change around and decided to use the basket I was going to use for ED for Son's Thai hamper instead. The bits will look nice in there once I have bought the rest of the foody stuff. I am waiting for a Sainsbury voucher to come to pay for that.
I took the towel for ED and two of the bottles of bath stuffs and made her a towel cake out of it after all. It looks nice wrapped up in the cello. I also wrapped another set up in cello with a little soft toy sitting on top, they look much more gifty now. The rest of her presents I will wrap separately and put in a bag.
I got YD's photo printed make up bag down this morning and stitched some fabric and lace over one side where there was a photo of her and her XBF lol. Looks like its for good this time so save wasting it. It looks pretty, shame I haven't got the camera at the moment. I will have to do some pics of everything next weekend when I get it back. Not sure what to do with the two pages in her photo book with them on it, might stick some other photos over the top or just stick the two pages together and tell her why lol.
I have been having a look at my list and I don't have much left to get now. I have enough Amazon vouchers to get my Dad something, I will probably print him out a nice IOU saying look on Amazon and order something.
I need to get a couple of tubes of paint for my bro and SIL's craft hamper. I want to get a white and a black as they always come in handy. Last time I went in the Works they only had black and no white (its cheaper to buy two tubes together) and time before that they only had the white. I think that will fill their basket up, if not I might just get some chocolates or something to fill it up.
I also need to get some more bits in for the Grandchildren including the new one due beginning of December. Not sure what to get yet but I will keep my eyes open.
I have £20 of M&S vouchers I was going to save for Nieces wedding next year but they are the paper ones and they are doing gift cards now so think I will spend them and get them something else whenever the wedding occurs (havent set a date yet). Not sure what to get with them as don't want to waste them but I am going out Tuesday so might take them with me and have a look in the store. Might be able to get OH a shirt or tie or something.0 -
Hello all :j
Candy -you're not the only one who hasn't done anything -though I have knitted some wrist warmers and made some fabric hearts/trees/xmas puddings and stuff to do ''christmas in a box''
Most of the other pressies will be 'upcycled' kitchen stuff.......storage jars, couple of xmas t-towels I found I'd had bought me, chopping boards I had on the walls just for decoration, stuff like that.
I take the hint on the gravy tubs.......got two here waiting to be done something with and have a feeling there's some more upstairs from last year that I didn't get to use. I'll maybe put the wrist warmers in them with hot choc. sachets for ''winter warmer'' tubs.............lol
Might have a few days spare next week with no builders so I can start getting the glue out......oh and paper.............lol
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
