Hi Rufus, Il like your new posts as well, especially the bag - I live in Kingston-upon-Thames
Clare, that is very good of you to make the cakes for the funeral, I hope it goes ok for you - any chance I could nab the recipe for the sticky toffee cakes off you at some point? They sound delicious, no rush though I can see you are very busy this week
Anglea - I am going to have to pop to Lidl now, am intrigued by the chocolate coin bank notes, thanks for the heads up0 -
Hi girls
I've been reflecting on my Lidl shopping experience. I only go there a couple of times a year if DS is home with a car, but have realised that the grocery shopping is no longer cheap as it used to be years back. This time I was shocked at the total and I didn't even get anything frozen nor any fresh meat. I felt bad all night about it.
Rufus, hope the items from Superdrug are what you were expecting.0 -
Claros - of course. it was off some's blog on here - I can't for the life of me remember who! I haven't got the recipe with me at the moment but when I'm back and back on course next Tuesday, I'll pm it to you. In the meantime, if anyone can remember who's blog it's on and post Claros in that direction, that would be fab!
Edited to say - REMIND me if you see me on here next week and I haven't PMd you and if you haven't been given the link by anyone else! lol
Angela - I've heard someone in work say similar things about Aldi recently - you can get the odd thing cheaper, and the odd thing that you can't get anywhere else, but overall it's not that much cheaper any more.
Any of you on Twitter? I saw all the hype about the Chocolate Orange price glitch in Tesco yesterday - they were going through as buy 3 for £5 AND Bogof!! People were getting major bargains! So i popped to a Tesco first thing today, but the glitch had gone - just Bogof! I bought some anyway as hubby and I both like them, and I might put a few on my stall this Saturday. They'll get eaten anyway - either directly or when I make chocolate orange cake!
Mary - glad OH is a bit better today!

Hi everyone
Hope you are all having a nice day, weather isn't too bad here for this time of year, not sunny but not cold yet. We popped up town this morning, went in Wilkinson's and I spotted they had their chocolate coins bogof so I bought £5 worth. When I got home OH was just going out so I went up and sorted through all my presents for this year, had so many cardboard boxes where I had just been putting everything up on top, so I had a good sort out and chucked out loads of boxes I didnt need. I got all the mugs out with the kids names on, I was going to put two bags of choc money in each mug but it looked a bit piddley in the bottom so I tore up half a sheet of tissue paper and put that in the bottom first and then put they money on top. I didn't need two whole bags then so the coins went a bit further than I thought. I managed to do 6 mugs with 10 bags of coins and I have a few over for the next ones but need to get some more. I have three more mugs to do.
The bits from Superdrug are really good. They were all mens toiletry gift sets and look nice. Will be some nice parcels to put under the tree when the time comes once wrapped. One of OH's dvds came today too so I managed to get that put away as well.0 -

Hello all :j
Oh what chaos this morning -9am and plumber drilling for pipes to re-locate washing machine, builder knocking out window to brick it up........muck and dust everywhere  Still by lunchtime they'd done so it was 'clearing out cupboards'..............cleaning girl and gardening chap did that -rain stopped play on the garden so he cleared a few cupboards then painted the loo. Cleaning girl cleared the rest of the stuff out........now its all in computer room with me  What a lot of ''stuff''..............still, should take care of christmas for me. Half of it I wonder why I'd ever bought in the first place............lol
Currently making do with makeshift tap where the sink was ...........lol Feel like we're squatters..........lol
So, no sewing got done today..............maybe tomorrow ?
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Wow!! It's quiet on here tonight!!! Where's everyone gone??
I'm back from my drama group which was hard work tonight and I'm not feeling too great so I am going to see if I have any surveys that I can do, have a quick browse on the boards on here and then get myself to bed.
Hope everyone is ok?0 -
Hi everyone
Rufus, love the slippers.
Clare, good luck for the funeral, that's wonderful of you to also make cakes.
For pots of gold or hampers I bought something interesting in Lidl ($=pound) -
1.$1 - net bag of chocolate coins and which include rectangular ones covered in bank notes, look really good.
2. $1 - small panettone cake in a box with ribbon loop (not a Christmas ornament size, much bigger)
3. $1.99 individual small pieces of butter stollen in clear box
The only other thing I've done is start some letters to go into cards but forgot about them - until I had a dream this morning that my aunt overseas was asking me why I never keep it touch. Oh dear, feel guilty now.
Glad you have your epipen mum2one, strange how you get those unexpected attacks.
I saw those panettone cakes when was in last they looked lush, thou did some gingerbread hearts with apricot filling, the idea being to put up for xmas, but once out of the bag, they got attacked!! since prague love the way they do gingerbread.
Its a complete farce these allery attacks, apparently its not the main things, fish, nuts, etc, but the next batch of tests could be brilliant or useless, and they wouldn't know where to start. The specialist said that the mediciation on, (morphine and anti inflamatories) can lower the immune system, permanetly on anti histtmines, at this sure I'll rattle. Just trial and error! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
djstar - bet that was a lovely surprise about the prezzies, were get you organised for xmas,
Susan - Glad you had a gd hol, did miss you,
Mary - glad kitchen getting sorted, don't know about you, but sure things multiply when they hide in cupboarda, glad hubby going on ok hopefully the kitchen will give him a focus xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hello all :j
Chap we know who deals in pine furniture called today to collect the free standing kitchen cupboard and another little one we'd got -bit of extra cash for something. Hes interested in the old pine doors and worktop thats coming out so that'll be a bit more hopefully.
Place looks even more like a squat now than before and I can see the different colours we've painted the kitchen before now cupboards have been moved.............one was meant to be terracotta but more like pink..........:rotfl:
OH's got a sort of 'system' for filling kettles from under the worktop and sorting out washing up - gets me out of that chore for a few days.............lol
Did manage to get my little femal gingerbread person done for sons girlfriend in between instructing gardener chap where to put the bulbs I'd got..............forgot I had so many !! He's dug up stuff thats gone over so I need a bit of 'instant' colour now.
Other than that...........done not a lot..........oh made a card for eldest sons partner.........thats it really.
Not half as busy as you lot but I will be when kitchens done and I sift through the stuff that'll be 'upcycled' for pressies...........lol
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
