    Xmas Saver!
welcome to the thread everarch, I always say treat the lists as a pick and mix, whether its one part or two.

Have just agreed to draft letter to ex, so the solicitors sending that off today, doubt ex will agree, (be a miracle if he does, and if he does take a lot of pressure off Miss Hoodie, so fingers crossed), find out one way or another on Monday.

Had email from school, they have the school photographer coming in and want photos of all the govenerors.... (help!!, dont do a good photo) x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Haven't had a chance to catch up with you all yet - hoping too in the next hour or so.

mum2one - glad you had a lovely break (mostly!)

mary - hope the renovations are going ok!

Holiday was lovely. France was beautiful, weather great. Then on the Saturday we were coming back, it all went downhill! OH's nan (who was very ill anyway) had a stroke that morning, and subsequently died this morning around 8am. Bit of a relief in a strange way though, especially for MIL as she's been at the hospital since Saturday and has hardly slept. Also, OH's Nan was in quite a lot of pain so at least she doesn't have to suffer anymore.

Anyway, you know the saying things come in 3s?!??! Well, got home Saturday evening, both cats around, the bigger dopey one lying on settee purring away. Hour later, OH on phone to his parents getting the latest update on his nan at the time, I'm sat on end of settee opposite cat, get up after 10 mins or so flicking through post and notice my trouser leg is wet. Some blinking cat has come in a weed DRAMATICALLY in the end of our settee! A few weeks before we went away, said bigger dopey cat lost his magnet for the cat flap so it's been on general open setting, so initially I think some horrible beast has come in and marked it's territory. Used to happen before we got the magnet cat flap, but not this dramatically. It's all over the side of the cusion, under the cusion - soaked in - and down side of settee and under. It STINKS. Going to have to look for tips on getting rid of the smell I think.

Then I suddenly realise that big dopey cat hadn't actually got up since we got in. I gave them fresh food (friend had come in every few days to re-fill bowls and reset the auto cat feeder) and even that didn't budge him. OH comes in at this moment and I explain the cat pee, and my concern over Mr Dopey (not actually his name, but fits!!). So we try to encourage him down, but he's not interested. Just lying there purring at us! lol So we lift him up and he can't put any weigh on his back leg!!! We lift him to the kitchen where his food is and he's not interested and not putting ANY weight ont hat leg. So after a call to the emergency vets, OH takes Mr Dopey to the vets at 10.30pm!! To make a VERY long story short, we think he's been hit by a car, fractured his femua, HOW he got back into the house and UP onto the settee I'll never know! Operation was today, initially had 3 options - pins (could cause problems in later life though and during healing), plate (expensive but good recovery) or amputation. The poor beast already only has one eye (a previous car he tackled!!!) so we couldn't face that, so we were going to go for the plate. And no, he's not insured!! He WAS! Our blinking fault.....grumble grumble... Anyway, this morning, at other vets (the surgeon is based in another branch from our local, and to save us some money, cat's been home with us in a large dog cage on heavy painkillers for a few days), the surgeon suggested he would try the pin but put a plate on the OUTSIDE of the skin temporarily to hold it all in place while it healed. Ok, we thought, go with that. Then a phone call DURING surgery to say the break is too bad and it's either a very complicated pin and plate option which will almost certainly cause problems in later life and would mean been kept locked in the house & cage for 3 to 4 MONTHS, or amputation (with just 2 weeks recovery time!!). So we're going to have a one eyed 3 legged cat! He's become a pirate!!!! lol

So, we've had a bit of a few days of it, could do with another holiday!! lol Waiting to find out when the funeral is now, and I need to crack on with the reindeer food for my friend's charity event in 2 and a bit weeks time, but other than that Christmas is postponed!!

Oh, got the cross stitch for friend's wedding present finished and to the framer before we went away. Waiting to pick it up now.

Did I mention as well that it's our wedding anniversary today too?? What a day for it. lol Hey ho.....

Anyway, enough off loading!! I'm off to catch up on the rest of this thread and read (and ignore!) the santa's challenge!! lol

Hope you're all well, happy, and feeling relatively on top of things!!!

    Hello all :j
Well what a day...............hung around waiting for hospital transport for OH -didn't turn up  So, rang hospital and they hadn't booked it  Oh I was so mad ! I rang the clinic and demanded that OH could speak to boffin................boffin comes to phone and OH being a bloke just says he's in pain so much and wants to know whats going on, boffin says he'll see him in 4 weeks when he's had his holiday:eek: OH puts down phone (deep sigh) I was having none of it so phoned back.......spoke to clinic nurse and told her 4 weeks was too long............urgent appt needed .......any of the 4 consultants he's already had will do.........so all of a sudden he's got an appt. next Wed. with another boffin -I insisted it not be a registrar or junior doctor (been that route before). Maybe next week we'll get some answers.

Then council plumber turned up..........wanted to fit the shower -day early :T Bonus (we thought)......shower gets fitted, mirror and stuff back on the walls............lovely.............then shower doesn't work  Not sure whats wrong with it but next step is plumber contacts the manufacturers and they send engineer out to sort it ..........not sure when  Still, we've managed without it all this time...........whats a few more days/weeks/months.................lol:rotfl:

So, sort of wasted day apart from finding bits and pieces that came out of the bathroom that may well become pressies for a few folk. They won't look right now its done different. Tomorrow I'll forage some more and see what I can find but at this rate I can do fair bit of 'xmas shopping' without leaving the house..................lol:)

moneypenny - love all your makes.............umm.........whats an orca ? I'm intrigued.

Clare - as my above 'rant of sorts'...........renovation is all 'work in progress'...........or not;)
Sorry to hear about OHs nan but understand fully what you mean about 'relief'.
Poor Mr Dopey (lovely name.......lol)-get well soon (I'm a sucker for cats.........lol)
    And Happy Wedding Anniversary:T

Hope you're all ok -you're certainly much busier than me...............lol:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Thanks guys. !!!!! cat was in a lot of pain last night, but seemed more like his normal self (minus one leg!) this morning.

I still haven't caught up on the last 2 pages, but wanted to aska quick favour. I'm HOPING I posted on here the things I was thinking of making for my friend's charity party (Christmas things) - can anyone find my post??? I'm hoping I did put it on here, as I have NO idea if I've written it down anywhere else and I can't for the life of me remember what else I was going to make other than reindeer food and handbag charms. I remember they were non edible (or at least nothing I'd made that people would then eat), and relatively easy to make.... help?? My brian's fried! If it's not in here I'll just have to put aside half and hour (ha! lol) and go through all the christmas craft ideas and see what I could do again from scratch!

    Big hugs to all!
