Hiya all,
I'm joining up here also. I regularly look at various MSE forums (although never posting) but never come across this one before. Enjoy saving money in every which way.
I make my own greetings cards, although with the amount of money I spend on the bits for them, I don't actually save any money, but I do enjoy it. Would like to make more homemade presents though for next year.
Also going to recycle some of my Christmas presents from this year and try the £2 jar. Trying to lose a bit of weight at the moment too, so thought I might add money to the jar each time I'm tempted to buy a choc bar or bag of crisps - save on money and weight.
Have signed up for a lot of the surveys websites but not sure how much time I'll have to do these - I'm a teacher so spend most of evenings and weekends doing schoolwork!
I take it the rest of you budget money for each person's gift and then if you manage to get it cheaper, count it for the full price? So if you budget £20 for a gift and get something at £10 that is worth £20, then you just give them that? I end up spending the full £20 but trying to get as much as possible for the money, so therefore give good gifts but don't actually save money. Ooops!!
Hope to get lots of tips from all you seasoned money savers.0 -
Natasha is on the mend, she came to the shops, all wrapped up in her buggy. She was great until she decided to shake the pepper pot in the cafe, and it went in her eye........ oooops. Took her to Hamleys..........
Dorothy Ps never had one bit of nightwear, so came home and ordered online, did get my Best friend a gorgeous purse from Fossil. And I got myself a really nice necklace that I was after for ages.
Now going out for some dinner with the girlsMy Aunt is giving me a night off.........

Hello all!!!
I'm in, i am going to try and get bargain presents and make lots of homemade ones too.
I want to make my own xmas cards this year which isn't particularly money saving as cards are so cheap nowadays but i think it will be a nice thing to do. I just want to make a very simple design.
Reserved 2 meccano red arrow sets from Argos to pick up tomorrow. They are £14.99 down to £4.99 so quite a bargain and a great present. These will go in the present stash for either birthdays or xmas. Ordered £10 worth of stuff from Asos for DD's teachers next year.
Need to find some bargain card craft bits to start my cards soon!
Plan to save £35 a month towards xmas. I have just written out my list and we buy for 51 people!!!!!!!
Got to make a start!Orange Fairy

Then we went in New Look and I used the rest of my vouchers and bought two cardigans and a top and only had to put £2 towards them.
Went in WHSmiths and bought a Beast Quest annual for youngest Grandson's birthday, was reduced to £1.99.
Then we went in Wilkinsons and bought another two rolls of wrapping paper (a nice thicker one) and a pack of bows and ribbons, and two packs of the folded wrapping paper. Came to about £3.
Grandson was so impressed by all my bargains, he was bumping into loads of people he knew and was telling them all lol.
Been trying to motivate daughter into doing her art project, she has made a start on a big model she needs to make but still has a lot to do in her book. Feel like I am knocking my head against a brick wall somehow.
OH is working today and tomorrow and then hes off for the weekend. Daughter is babysitting the Grandchildren on New Years Eve so me and OH can go out for the evening and I now have a lovely top I can wear. Then hes working Monday and then off for 9 days holiday so will be trying to get the spare room wall paper finished during that time.
Anyway, off to watch a bit of tele, catch you all later, Rufus xx
Hi Rufus
I went shopping today and bought the ten rolls of wrapping paper for £1, really pleased. Also picked up crackers in B&M for next year too :j

It was the one for older children then. The reason I asked is that I've got an old My First Leappad with a couple of books that I'm about to send to the charity shop if you want that.
