Hi all
Just got back online after the computer packed up over a week ago apart from that I know I've been awol from here for ages so only read this page.
Mary I hope you and your OH will finally have some time without any more challenges.
Last week ex gave me two cards he got his mum to sign and asked me for the addresses so I said I'd post them as well. Managed to send both of them on the wrong dates, too late. I think it's because I've had a lot on my mind lately - finding a solicitor. Finally got one.
I enjoyed reading the post about the school fair and the ideas about the children manning the stalls.
Mum2one, how did Miss H feel about discovering she has another sibling?0 -
Afternoon everyone, Mary, I have always wanted a four leaf clover lol, remember when I was at school used to spend all my playtime in the summer months searching the field at school for one. Glad OH is feeling in a better mood, hopefully it will help him recover quicker.
I had to go up town this morning, youngest daughter still hasnt got enough china pieces for her mosaic. One of the pots I got her last week was apparently the exact colour she needs for the background of the three pictures she is doing. She has finished one but needed more for the other two pics. I had got the pot in 99p store so went up there Friday but sold out, had a look round CS but nothing same colour. Then remembered we had three mugs that we dont use in the same green so came home and smashed them up, remembered to go out in the garden and do it on the floor instead of on the kitchen worktop this time. Still wasnt enough so had another look round this morning and have found a vase in just about the same colour but have told daughter she can smash this one up as needs to be done on the floor and I just cant get down there to do it.
Its my Son's birthday today, have messaged him to come and pick up his present, dont know how long it will be before he comes but that will be another one out of the way. Fathers day next and I have a card for that, and have Bro's 60th sorted, thats all for next month. July is youngest daughter's birthday, 16!! Cant believe it lol. I have got her a makeup basket already made up and she has some Boots vouchers and L2S vouchers as well as OH will give her some money too.0 -
Hello all :j
Been to see OH in hospital again...........still fairly cheerful but can't work the doctors out at all. One minute the biopsy result will be 4-5 days, today she said 4-5 weeks then said might get it by the weekend but if not and OH was ready to come home he wouldn't have to wait for it, GP would have it.
Still don't know when he's coming home though....problems with blood in his stools (sorry if thats too much information) so that was being checked after I left.
Hopefully going again tomorrow (it's wearing me out all this back and forth lark.........lol) so might know more then. Just when OH tells me he gets all muddled and you can bet your life they'll be no-one there to ask.
Garden getting on and nearly done.......just need more plants and then get new table up:T Be nice to have it all done for when OH comes home.:)
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I hope you find out soon Mary and OH is able to come home, will be nice to have the garden ready wont it. Ours is looking nicer out there, the plants in the tubs and baskets are all flowering, they are still small plants but look pretty. OH is on nights all week and weekend so I wont be doing much, might take my sewing out there later in the week if it warms up a bit, just a little to fresh at the moment and still very windy.
I'm popping to see ExMil this morning, she was in and out of hospital again last week. Got my hot chocolate ready to take lol, I always forget to take it and I dont drink tea or coffee and her water always comes out warm so cant have a drink of that either.0 -
Hi all,
So sorry to be AWOL for so long! Got LOADS to catch up on haven’t I! I got bit by the camping bug big time, so I’ve been on camping forums!! But I’m back! LONG POST ALERT!!
Esmer – lovely house! You’ve made it look gorgeous! And well done with the Summer fair!
SugarSpun – oh no, hope your OH is on the mend! Big hugs! Hope you and the little one are coping.
Mum2one – The court case – sounds like Miss Hoodie did you proud in her interview!! She’s not daft, I’m sure with future interviews and this ‘book’ she’ll do fine. What a waste of space…. <grumble mumble> If he can’t even make SURE he’s there for the court case…..grrrr.
How did Miss Hoodie’s ballet exam go??
Elysia - Blists Hill – we have a place near us (where I have also worked!) called Llancaiach Fawr Manor and they do Living History in Tudor and Stuart times!! Great fun!
Mary – I’m so in awe of you and your OH. With all the health problems that have suddenly come over you both, you both seem to be so positive!! Hope he’s fully recovered after having his appendix out, and biopsies, and blockage removals!! Are the hospital planning on just taking bits out until there’s nothing left?? Any news on him coming home?
KiWi – like the sound of that Christmas wii game! Thanks for that!
Susan – Well done on the weight loss!
Angela - *wave* Hope you’re ok?
Rufus – Good save on the tiled worksurfaces!! Did he notice??
You’re doing so well with all your makes!! I’m wondering if you can help – I wan to make a wall hanging style advent calendar for DD. I have loads of felt pieces which I can use to make the picture (probably a Father Christmas face…) and the pockets for the advent bit, but I was wondering what you thought about the construction? Should I use a big bit of felt for the main rectangle of the hanging (if YSWIM), or use felt (but doesn’t felt stretch and go a bit out of shape?)? And how do you think I should attach the felt to the background? Glue or sewing? I haven’t got a sewing machine, but could borrow mums, or hand stitch (my preference!).
Hello to anyone else I missed!
Camping bargain – bought a folding table online, when it arrive there was a blinking great hole in it! Was also a hole in the box so convinced it was done on transport. Anyway, email online shop I got it from asking for a replacement, and they say that they’ve had nothing but trouble with those tables and none of the couriers can transport it without damaging it! So have your money back, as we can’t sent you a replacement as we’ve decided to stop selling them! So I have £20 back, and a free table – granted it has a hole in the top, but seeing as we were going to put the gas camping hob on it, it can sit over the hole!! lol
Question for all Mummies. Just wondering, my DD is 2 literally a week before Christmas. Do you think, from your experience, that she’ll be old enough to do the leaving cookies for Father Christmas etc?? I’ve just bought a santa key (was going to make one, but time is running away from me and I have an elaborate advent calendar yet to make!!) as we don’t have a proper fireplace. I don’t mind getting it as I used my Paypal balance (Pinecone survey payments!) and it can always be kept…
Well, before I bore you all, I’m going to disappear again – bit of an MSE birthday for me the end of the week. Lovely overnight stay in posh hotel, £80ish instead of £200ish (Groupon!) including cinema with a £20 cinema voucher to see Pirates 4!
Promise to not be so much of a stranger!

susan - not actually been anywhere yet! lol OH finishing his OU degree this year so weekends are a bit busy, but we're planning on going away first weekend in July. No where too far, just 45 mins from home, with a load of friends. Ideal really as we haven't pitched our tent for the first time yet, and if there's any problems, at least we're not far from home! Still, hasn't stopped me obsessiong, looking for bargains, and making wish lists!!! lol Been on the forums at www.ukcampsite.co.uk Fab website, very similar feel to here.
Another question for you vistaprint experts - does anyone have a code for loyalty cards?? I cleared out my email a few days ago including all my vistaprint emails and can't check any of them now! Duh!
Thanks guys,

Clare - I made my daughter a felt advent calendar and used glue to stick on the pockets so she could "do it herself" and they all fell off lol.
You could try sticking them on where you want them and then do a bit of hand sewing around the edge so that it shows like its meant to be there if you know what I mean. You can use a large piece of felt as the background but it doesnt have to be, I reckon felt would be easiest to sew though.
Edit to add, try googling images of fabric advent calendars and see what other people are using. I had felt for my background and pockets and used UHU glue but fabric glue might have stuck it better.0 -

Mum2one, how did Miss H feel about discovering she has another sibling?
She was fuming, we'd had a chat before, on a what if basis, and she said she wants nothing to do with him, and if had any children she doesn't want to know, even thou I related to one of her friends family situation, all I got they live in the same house, and its Aunty xxx who has the babies.... So hence we didn't tell her. The weird thing is shes upset that shes been told, she didn't even want to know him name.... Think that went down like a dose of epsom salts.
I got dad to drop of the letter at the office, so they can't say they haven't got it, the solicitors putting his tuupence worth in as well.
Luckly she's shook it off her shoulder.
Glad you got a solicitor sorted out ok, xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

She was a little star, think next time she'll be more forward, but you bring children up to repsect elders and it back fires, bit I can hold my head up high!!
We don't get her ballet results to mid July, reckon she'll pass as her other exams she gets 85+ on them.
Elysia - Blists Hill – we have a place near us (where I have also worked!) called Llancaiach Fawr Manor and they do Living History in Tudor and Stuart times!! Great fun!
That place sounds fab, love events like that, reminds me must say thank you for the link for the art org, - mine sorry refresh ours!! came today, so first visit is Blists Hill, then end of June Miss Hoodies irish grandparents (his side), are coming across, be the 1st time there meeting Miss Hoodie, so thought Blist Hill be brilliant, I know it, shes been before, theres places to go into, so she wont be stuck round a dinner table as to say..... it get some use!!

I would do the Christmas tradation, she may not understand it all, but sure she'll love getting involved, remember Miss Hoodie, her 2nd xmas she was 2yr 3mths, but when she was saw her stocking, (for safety) as she was in a bed, we left the stocking on the outside of her bedroom door.
Very posh, good for you, get a bargain grabit. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
