    Hello all :j
Rang OH this morning and he slept better last night -still in a lot of pain and can't wear proper clothes yet, still nil by mouth apart from a drop of water now and then. He's well fed up just being there and no-one seems to tell him anything, plus the worry and waiting about biopsy results.
Foster daughter is taking me to see him tomorrow and Sunday another girl we fostered is taking me, Monday two of his mates plus me so at least he'll see some fresh faces.
I'm supposed to be seeing bone specialist Monday but cancelling that -would rather go and see OH and see if I can manage to find someone there who knows whats going on.
Lady from council came yesterday and measured up the bathroom for shower but she said it has to be a 'wet room'..........don't want that I just want a shower cubicle plus as the cost of stair lift and shower goes above grant amount they want to put a £10,000 charge on the house that they get back if we move.............not to happy about that and beginning to wish we'd had it done ourselves. I've got time to think about it anyway and see what OH says...........give him something else to think about.

    Hope you're all ok:)

Hope other half goes on ok, and send him our best wishes.
We've had our bath taken out and thought it would be a standard shower, but they knocked the bathrm and loo into one moved everything around, our bathroom came in at just under 8k, and when we had the stair lift it was 1.5k, - we own the house, what they did with us was send contractors out to measure up and quote then they decided which one to use, sorry to be nosey is your bathroom all in one, if it is, then its won't be knocking down walls, save a little bit, but ask to see the quotes, I think by saying a charging order, is that possibly people have said granny is living with them, get the new wet room etc, granny goes back to her home, whamm bang they've saved a wack of money. xx

mum2one =-bathroom and loo are separate. Originally we wanted a loo downstairs -(''iindoor shed'' where freezers and boiler are has room for a cubicle for a loo) but were told that as they were putting in stair lift it gave easy access to upstairs loo -than we needed a shower as well.
Ageuk I phoned this morning and they gave a rough quote of £4-5000 !! Can't believe its that much and that was just the shower and installation.
Why on earth the council won't let us have what we actually want I don't know but I don't want a wet room...........our house is a bit odd and theres a bedroom leading off the bathroom so don't want it to look too clinical looking if you know what I mean.
I'm mind boggled at the minute I really am. Think I'll have to ring council lady and ask her to go through it all with me again.

OH phoned and he's being allowed to have some soup and ice cream:T If that all goes through ok he'll feel better in himself I think/hope.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary - get advice if you decide to have a charge put on the house. I did this when I got divorced back in the late 80s for my legal aid fees. Was £1000 and at the time my Mum said she would pay it for me and I could pay her back but solicitor talked us into having it on the house. Didnt think any more of it and didnt get any letters from them until about 5 years later and I received a letter out of the blue saying it was a statement of what I owed and they had been charging me interest all that time and I then owed nearly £10,000. I nearly fell through the floor. Rang to see fi they had made a mistake but they had been charging compound interest. There was no way I could pay that back then so had to leave it as it was but it was going up by £3 a day if I can remember rightly. Wasnt until I got with my OH now and we remortgaged the house and paid it off, it was over £15,000 by then. Right rip off. Annoying thing is my ExH moved out, left me with all the bills and his debts to pay off, went to live in rented flat and got legal aid which he didnt have to pay back a penny of. It still wrangles now when I think about it.

It sounds daft but the wetroom is a god send, they have a criteria to meet, hense they would suggest a wetroom instead of just a shower. For us its made a massive difference, it was only Miss Hoodie who could use the bath.
I'll take a couple photos at wend, and pop them on, so at least your be able to see what it could look like.

Thats brilliant news that hubby has had something to eat xx

Mary - good news on the hubby...have they found whats wrong yet ?

Rufus - that sounds like a nightmare...my FIL used that one where you can have some money out of your house and he got £15000, 3 years later he passed away and my OH had to give them £25000...so he could put the house up for sale. It been up for 3 years on and off and we`re paying money back...

I been shopping, all the craft stuff reduced in Wilkinsons...I got some bits.

Good news though my motorhome insurance is up for renewal and its gone done over £110 .00 so as I had the money ready for it. I can spend the saving sorting out the water leak:D:D

mum2one - I posted your parcel ;) sorry I took so long, wouldnt go to post office yesterday as it was raining:rotfl:

    Hello all :j

susan - it was a blockage in OH's bowel so they took that out and sent it off for biopsy -waiting for results (hate the waiting) and they had to take a bit off large and small intestine to remove blockage.
He looked a lot better today.......had beef casserole for lunch, worked out how to work the 'pay as you view' tele and got a book I took him he'd asked for so not so much a grumpy old man...............lol
Brightened him up when foster daughter showed him the latest scan of our grandchild to be........lol

I am a numpty..........didn't read council papers right (been one of those weeks..........lol) They only put a charge on the house so if we move within 10 years they can claim it back. Still seems a bit ''in one hand and out the other'' but OH says to go along with it and just get it done. We've waited so long now I don't want to cause any more holdups by sending more quotes to them and having them say they're not up to they're standard.

Been pottering in the garden this morning with gardener chap........well as much as I can 'potter'..........lol Gives me something positive to think about. Trying to get it all sorted before OH is home which won't be yet. Least all his veg and herbs are planted -now need more compost and plants.:)

    .

I know just what you mean!

My council didn't let me have what I wanted either, when my partner became paraplegic. I ended up with an extension with bedroom & huge wetroom, £25,000 grant from the council, some smaller grants from charities and a £15,000 charge on the house! The charge on the house is to be paid back if I sell the house or die. They wanted me to take out a loan for the £15,000, but I refused saying that as I was on benefits, I wasn't in a position to pay it back - after a lot of "hoo-haa", with me sticking to my guns and saying "well you house him somewhere else then" - I got the charge instead. I think of it as a negative interest loan, as by the time it needs to be paid back, it will seem less than it does now. All the stress of the extension caused a break up of our relationship, and it wasn't finished long before he moved out! It's come in useful for my autistic son though!

Hi parapusher - I agree with you regarding councils.

The paperworks horrendus. I dont blame the people its the quide lines they have to work to , so knows how to bend them and some only know the straight way.

Mary - good news about OH though, it least hes eating and a bit chirpier. My OH seems to live in his garage, he been rearranging it all week. He put it all in place and then I walked in and said....you cant have that there...went down like lead balloon. But he seen my point, I cant twist and turn to get in and out.

    Hello all :j
Be easier to let council go ahead with things I think.....I can't face getting more quotes in, sending them off and maybe delaying things even more.
Rang OH this morning and he seems like he was yesterday, quite chirpy, and had shepherds pie last night. One of the girls I used to foster was taking me in this afternoon but she's got to work at the care home so I'd told OH I wouldn't be in. Then the girlfriend of one of the boys we fostered some years back popped up and said she'll take me tonight. Had quite a houseful this morning what with her, gardener chappie and his girlfriend. My mate had sent me loads of 4 leaf clovers she found in her meadow (she's got a big farmhouse) so I had them all over the table with some spare picture frames the idea being I'd get some done for christmas pressies..........had to make room for coffee mugs and start again when everyone had gone. Got one done and just hope the leaves keep their colour behind the glass.
Have ordered some flat shoes from debenhams website (free delivery)..can't wait and hope they fit ok.
Girl who's taking me to hospital tonight said she'll take me to local garden centre for more plants one day this week as she's off work.........be a nice treat and there's a really good coffee shop there. Bit of 'retail therapy' won't go amiss at the minute.
Be nice to get the garden all full before OH comes home.:)

    Hope you're all ok:)
