Next Sale opened this morning here in Edinburgh... I went not long after 7am when it opened, and I thought it was awful. I didn't recognise most of the clothes they had on display as being in the shop previously. I normally come away with loads, but not today. I did get a couple of homeware bargains, but in retrospect, it was nothing worth getting up early for. My advice would be stay in bed.
really? What store did you go to? I was at the princes street store this morning at 7 too (well actually 6.40) and thought it was quite decent. Got loads for my little girl and a new coat, 2 dresses and a couple of tops for myself aswell as some home bits (mainly xmas decs) and some gifts for next year. Spent £222.
I went to the fort in the summer and spent £170 and that was at 5am and was queueing from half 4. That one was brutal, had to get up in the middle of the night and night bus it

i do the same thing, buying all of the clothes for a year in this one sale and after they are outgrown i too sell them on ebay and they cost me nothing really. even more my husband drives for a living and collects shell points and gives me about £200 worth of next gift cards a year, so i spend absolutely no money at all.
i dont bother waking up early, i just go in normal hours, at about 9 or 10 and still get lots of bargains. in my opinion, they put out really old years stuff first and only then newer stuff. i keep checking store for few days. last year i got best clothes on the 5th day of the sale0 -
There was loads of people in the edinburgh store today going a bit mad with literally 10 bags of stuff per family. Also peed me off as they had one in the queue and the others were still browsing and kept bringing back more bags!
IDK, I think it's good fun and you do get bargains but remember it's only a bargain if you will wear it, use it or need it!0 -
We got there at 4.45am for the summer one and the queue was around the block, we ended up not buying anything in the first store we went to as people were just grabbing anything and everything and I like to have a proper look, so went to a smaller store in another town and it was pretty empty in there, thats the only time I have been early. Not feeling well at the mo so definately won't be going at 5am tomorrow, probably won't bother at all this time actually.Aiming to completely pay off the credit card in 2012!0

Never been at 5a.m, have been at 6 or 7 for the summer sale, but not the winter sale. I usually go at 9 or 10 and have been happy with what I've got, then go on to another Next. I see no need to go for the start personally.0

BUMP who's going to be queuing tonight?0

I worked there for 5 years, and in my opinion, if you want the best stuff, you do have to get there early. Especially for homeware- it just flies out the door, its unbelievable. Crap doesn't get put out first- everything thats on the shopfloor already gets labelled up first, and then filled up with stuff from the back that may be older. I think you're better off going to the smaller stores than the big ones- we used to hear about the big ones getting an hour and a half long queues inside. Our smaller store used to be 15-20 mins max. And people would only be inside from 4/4.30 ish, not 1am! However I can well believe it of the massive stores.
Get yourself a game plan before you go in- hit home first, then go for any jewellery and beauty. They're always the 1st to go. Then head to kids, figure out what you want first, as they are seperated into young girls tshirts, big boys trousers, etc. They are also done by price point within that- cheapest first. Mens very rarely has much in anyway, as it all flies out the shop before xmas anyway, mens always seems to have half the floor to full price gear.
Hope this helps somebody. I'm not associated with Next anymore, by the way, so don't think I'm trying to push this- I'm well off out of there! Oh, and keep an ear out for next year- word on the street is that it's likely to be moving to Boxing day everywhere from then. Not confirmed yet, but lots of rumours about it.0 -
I thought it was usually Boxing Day anyway?
Only assumed it wasn't this year as they wouldn't have been able to open early and stay open late due to sunday trading laws??0
