Silly customer service agent spoiled surprise...

I got a phone call today from someone wanting to speak to my partner. She was at work so I asked if I could take a message and the guy says "I just wanted to confirm the delivery address for the Fender Strat that she ordered" and then gave her work address - I guess because having an expensive item shipped somewhere that isn't the home address could be fraud - though I don't know why he'd take my word for it...

Anyway, by telling me what the order was he has inadvertantly told me what my lovely girlfriend has bought me for xmas, which she would probably be angry about if she knew. :rotfl:
Now, to keep this MSE, I haven't cheaped out this xmas - I've bought her some perfume, clothes and a couple of little bits and bobs she was after, but now knowing that the silly devil has gone and spent anything between £350 and £1000 on me I now wonder whether I should have bought something a little more... unique, especially given I know exactly why she has bought this for me (sentimental reasons).
What do you think?

I think you are a very lucky man, and if you haven't bought her something thoughtful, I would be running round the shops tomorrow if I were you. Don't tell her you knew though. Don't worry about how much you've spent, but perhaps get her something sentimental, too?
Practice your 'surprise and utter appreciation' face - and never, EVER tell her you knew.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Hmm, are Spa Days cliche now?0

I think a spa day would be fabulous. Women love to be pampered.0

Hi,
keep it cool,, if you hadn't got the phone call you would've carried on as planned.
Let the wee babe 'surprise' you, be surprised , she's doing it because she loves you.
Don't let on, a wee while down the road you can tell her, and whilst dallying down that road, get her some wee treats, for no particular reason, every now and again, just a wee 'I love you'.
You're a lucky guy.

I've had almost identical happen this month, lovely husband bought me something rather special for our wedding anniversary having promised we would buy each other token gifts. I checked his paypal account because I had been buying loads of things on Ebay for a new house we have bought and just wanted to check something and did a double take when I saw the amount and had to check the amount thinking I had been overcharged on something.
I had a week to spare and bought him something far less valuable but very sentimental. the hardest part was acting all surprised when he gave it to me but you MUST do it. She can't know you know. I'll never tell my husband. Bless him
I'd treat her to a few nice things if you can afford it. Lots of small, thoughtful gifts might be nice0 -
It might be a bit awkward if you open your present on Xmas day and don't find a guitar eh?
Joking aside, nice one dude.0 -

Thanks.
I was a bit reluctant to do something overly extravagant because it might be too obvious that I found out. Obviously, she's having it shipped to her work address because she doesn't want me to find it.
I thought a Spa Day might be a nice surprise and then I can do something a little sentimental for her a little later.
One other thought I have is that she loves the song November Rain... if I could teach myself one or both of the solos from that in the next three days perhaps that might make her happy... she doesn't know what I can and can't play. Well she knows some of the things I can play... Might be nice if I can play one of her favourite songs for her on her present to me.0 -
If you guys aren't married... propose! A woman that buys you a fender strat is a keeper!!! haha
Joking aside, what about taking her away for a long weekend somewhere nice in the new year? Doesn't have to be overly far or extravagant, just a nice weekend together.0
