You dont need to be worried. Royal Sun Alliance are a massive company and generally have a pretty good reputation.
One of the things you should never do is resubmit if the internet fails you on the payment page after pressing submit. However, many people do. So, its a pretty common error and something they should resolve easily.
Refunds normally take 3-5 days to appear. So, I suggest you now go back to RSA and put in a formal complaint and ask for an inconvenience payment because its put your overdrawn before Christmas. Outline your other problems as well. Chances are you will get the refund quicker than just waiting for the normal call centre to refund it and a goodwill gesture payment of around £100 would not be unexpected.
i wish i had read this before i tried with them, its now september 2012 and it mirrors the problems i am having, avoid like the plague0 -

Unfortunately when i call the number I get a voice telling me I have dialled an incorrect number. My concern is that i could drive my vehicle and not actuallty be insured due to an issue with the eChoice website or system0 -
I have tried calling this number above as i am currently having issues trying to retrieve my documents as the site continuously states

I am currently having a similar issue with them. I took out a policy with them yesterday and went to download my documents. The site allows me to log in but i have been getting the following message for over 24hrs.

Obviously im concerned that i could potentially be driving my car while not actually insured and as i need my car to travel to and from work this is a major issue0 -
Thought I'd update my saga - 4 phone calls, 1 email and 2 'live message' chats later still no sign of any No Claims Bonus details to pass on to my insurers.
I've just sent echoice a registered letter demanding the details in 5 working days and telling them I'm off to the Financial Ombudsman if they don't produce them.
Wonder if that will help?0 -
I have worked for an insurance broker for the last 10 years. RSA echoice have always been a strong competitor for us with there online prices and find them very hard to beat.
In april this year I decided to my my car insurance to them.
The set up of the policy was easy there was a direct debit payment that came out within 14 days for the deposit payment but that was noted in the terms etc
Today I have bought a new car I have spent my whole day off trying to gain access to the website to do a change of vehicle. Everytime it brings up the error message "proxy error" or "we are having problems that we are trying to resolve please visit later".
With it being a sunday there call centre and email contact team are closed. I am so annoyed this is the first time I have tried to alter my policy with them and it isnt looking good. Im so fed up I need this car insuring to get to work tommorow. I have sent them a complaint email asking them to call me as soon and they get it so I can process the change with them over the phone. I will not be paying there £25 admin as it is not my fault there site is down so why should I pay £25 instead of the £10 internet fee.
Im going to try again before I go to work in the morning however I wont be holding my breath due to all the other complaints people have raised on the net re the same thing
Fingers crossed x0 -

I made the same mistake of getting insurance from echoice. (Confused.com search). Should have checked this forum beforehand.
When I logged on to echoice site, I had the same message as above, and I kept checking for five days and decided to email them.
A day passes by and no reply - "we will contact you within 4 hours" - guess they are in a different planet and the time flows much slower than the rest of us:rotfl:
Finally decided to call them - and guess what - NO phone number to call. Bit of googling and found this - 01403 232323.
Cut the long story short, three more phone calls to that number, and after wasting almost 2 hours talking to clueless apes, managed to get them posted - First class. Initially they refused to post first class - or email! I was told that emailing was insecurebut could fax me - I had no fax machine - and NO TAX disk to drive my car to a post office to collect the fax :rotfl:
These are a bunch of clueless apes who cant sort their website to get the right documents in place - instead try to get the customer run around for the documents.0 -
I am currently researching my options for car insurance renewal and echoice came up as a ridiculously cheap option via confused.com (£172 cf £274 with Esure). I was concerned because I could not find a detailed policy with which to compare the echoice policy...your feedback has only helped to confirm my decision to leave this insurerr alone! This company are a joke and would advise anyone to steer well clear, website crashes on a regular basis, can't update your details and worst of all when you get a claim they won't honour it !!! Worst website and insurer ever,0
