I was just about to take out Car Insurance with RSA via Lloyds Bank tonight, the premium seemed good.

But I haven't got time to be messed about, I'm going to get my Insurance Company to price match so I get the lower price without the hassle.

RSA used to be a highly regarded company ... what's gone wrong?

  • Beware, ECHOICE -No Renewal notification was sent to me, they then decided to debit amount from my credit card claiming I agreed to automatic renewal.THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE SIMPLE ANSWERS, THIS IS A SCAM.
They are quick to debit the sum and yet arrange credit minus admin charges, yet it takes 10 days to refund amount, their excuse is their systems are not working, not surprised as no one knows what they are doing!!
In my case there was no documents or admin, therefore I've been chasing this up and still not had any responce to their underhanded practice.Their email correspondence is never signed by a person its a RSA ECHOICE TEAM, professionally useless title that seems they share single brain cell.
If you arrange insurance from these cowboys please be aware NOT to use a credit card that has over 12 month validation as they WILL remove funds.THEY ARE A PART OF MORE THAN, WHICH IS
EQUALLY BAD. WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO OPERATE SUCH PRACTICES?

    Hi

I wanted to let people know that I also think they should avoid RSA Echoice. I have been asking for my certificate of motor insurance to be put online so I can print it out since OCTOBER 2012. I constantly email and call and I only ever receive an email back asking me to call which I do and then get told that it will be changed within 24 hours. I am very worried about what kind of service I would get if I did have to make a claim.

    Dissapointed RSA E Choice Customer
i have had the worst time too, never again, avoid more than too.
  • Just wanted to add to this thread - if it stops one person using this company it will be worthwhile! I had insured my car with them in 2012, the renewal quote in November 2013 still came up cheaper than everyone else. So I paid it, in full as before, money left my account end of November and all the relevant documents were showing online with them. Yesterday I had a letter in the post from them with a cheque for the same amount as my renewal premium saying it was for "a refund of a premium paid in error on my cancelled policy" Which surprised me as I had not cancelled the policy! They are only open 9am-5pm so I had to resort to querying the cancellation via Live Chat on their website (which is always incredibly slow to use as well) I was told the policy had been cancelled and I was to ring them (0844 number only) in the morning as they "couldn't discuss my policy on Live Chat" So rather than waiting until the morning and also wanting to avoid racking up a large phone bill I emailed them with the query asking them to ring me asap. This morning I was called by a (very helpful to be fair) man who had looked into it and said that although the renewal premium was taken from my bank, their accounts department had not matched the payment to the policy (!) so their underwriters had then cancelled my policy on 6 January. So I had been driving around totally unaware that I had no insurance .... through no fault of my own. He assured me that the policy was now live again and had been "backdated" to my renewal date in November but their accounts department would need me to make another payment of the renewal premium there and then, and pay the cheque in to cover the original cancelled premium. I asked would it not be simpler for them to just cancel the cheque as I had already paid the renewal fee back in November, otherwise I would go overdrawn waiting for the cheque to clear. He is going to call me back Saturday apparently to see what the accounts department say as it takes them "2 days to respond to emails". OK he was very helpful but I cannot believe how a company can treat their customers like this - totally incompetent. I was so lucky I didn't get stopped by the police - 6 points and car impounded, cheers! Come November this year I will take my custom elsewhere and would advise, in fact beg, anyone who is thinking of taking out a policy with them DON'T! OK they come up cheaper than other companies but you get what you pay for - avoid avoid AVOID!

Hi I did have insurance with RSA WHITCH ended on 31/3/2014 my son
Was on the policy as a named driver. He was involved in an accident in August 2013 and there the problem started when we made the claim because the car was not registered in my name on the log book they would not believe I owned the car even though I do I bought the car of my son but they said it did not matter as by law the car has to be in your name on the log book which it does not because you v5c states that the registered keeper is not the legal owner of the car but according to rash the DVLA are wrong and they are right they still have not paid out to sort my car but they have sorted the other persons car who ran into the side of my car as they were a disabled driver and the car they were in is insured by ROYAL SUN ALLIANCE and as they were the insurer of both cars they fixed the other car right away as mobility give them more money for insurance policy's than an ordernery member of the public does so my advise would be do not use them for insurance avoid at all cost
  • I currently have a policy with RSA Echoice, through GoCopare. It comes up for renewal soon. I am concerned by what I read in this thread.

Is there anything I can do to prevent them taking more money from me?

I have yet to receive a renewal quote from them despite the policy having only 3 weeks to run.
  • Unfortunately I am in the boat of wondering what happened to my claim.

I was hit by an uninsured driver and to start off with the claims handlers were great and put my mind at ease. However, I had to wait 4 days for the car to be removed. I never got a call from the dedicated repairers who were manufacturer approved.
Once it went to repair I heard nothing. I eventually complained and thought that it would be resolved! Oh no. I never got a complaints letter. I have continually had to chase the progression of the the repairs and even the echoice handlers did not know what was going on.
All through this I was continually making them aware of the damage to the driver side.
But when I was told I would get a call back it never happened, even with the complaint in place.
I finally got the car back but the quality was dire and no works had been undertaken to the damaged tyres. This really rattled my goat as I had been waiting for nearly two months. Again I complained and eventually got a call from someone, but I had to wait another 6 days for the car to be removed and repaired.
I finally have got the car back and on the first drive the type pressure sensor has lit up. I called echoice and was told that this would be passed to their engineer and I would be called back - still waiting!!!! I did have a message left on my voice mail from the garage on a trick to reset the sensor, but I am not mechanically minded nor can I trust the repairer.
To cap it all the hire car I had was off hired by the repairing garage not echoice. When the car was not fit for purpose I was told that the garage would not cover the hire of hone car even though it was their shoddy workmanship that made the car unsafe to drive.

The FCA use Treating Customers Fairly - not in this instance.

    Can someone help with this.

Today I was stopped by police in my Fiat Punto, he told me I had no insurance. I argued that I had. However, he could not let me drive away until I proved it. So all I could do at the time was buy some insureance at the roadside, he was actually a really good cop and let me do this so I could get on my way. Anyway, £120 deposit later, I get home.

I log into e-choice to view my docs. It says Fiat Punto, bingo ! I am right, I did change my vehicle over.. So I go on live chat to try and see why the police computer says I am not insured. The answer is ' a technical error' so now they change my car, but only from today ! as although the screen shows the Fiat Punto, their computer had not made the change!.

I printed of my policy docs, on screen view as when I try to print of the actual policy I cannot do it, I get a 'sorry we are having technical problems' message.

The manager admits there has been an error and I have printed this off, will this be enough for a magistrate to cancel the charge ?
