Bit annoyed with EDF at the moment. Switched 4 months ago and just had the first bill in. I'm dual fuel online saver 6. However for the first two weeks they put me on the standard tarrif which at points over well over double the price. Their rationale is that it takes time to get on the dual tarrif. 16 days in my case. I find it not acceptable that I should have to pay them any more than I am contracted to.

Please read my posts in this thread.

    The relevant extract being:

EDF accept that this is not a fair position for Customers and that they will now give REFUNDS for such amounts. Unfortunately, this does require a Customer to alert them to the problem.

Paul I have changed suppliers (IGT gas & electric) around 12 times since last December, You only have to give your new supplier a meter reading, they then should pass it on to your old supplier. It does not need to be on an exact date, normally you get around 5 days to do it.

    OK. thnx.

    Why've you changed 12 times?

Cashback, I had over £400 paid into my bank account in a year, EDF have paid me £150 alone for 3 switches. I have not paid for any fuel out of my own pocket.

How do you manage to switch 12 times in a year though? It normally take at least 3 months for everything to be correctly sorted out regarding final bils and refunds, etc.

I switch as soon as its tracked/confirmed, I only ever get a final bill. A Switch can take only 3 weeks! I have had £260 odd from Scottish Power, they track the fastest and pay fast!
  • aarghhh!!!!

Read the elec meter on 30/12 - switchover day and entered onto EDF website. Went back today to enter gas reading (switch over for gas today) and it says I still havent entered electricity reading....

Mine's the same. Don't worry. I rung EDF and they read of the electric reading i'd sent them so they've got it... just a bit slow thats all.. ring 'em if ya need confirmation =D
I work for first direct and have previously worked for Santander.
Any information I give should not been seen as being given from first direct or Santander however I do have certain knowledge from working there.

    Thank you, Chrissy
  • These lot are unbelievable. They're still saying I havent given them a meter reading even though I've rung twice to do so now !!!

And they've said my DD will be £70 a month - £62 for elec and £8 for gas. Elec is about right but I used £300 worth of gas last quarter so I dont think thats right !!!!

    They are completely useless !!!!

It has been an ordeal.

My latest, is also unused meter readings for electricity.Actually given the opening estimate they have used, it is actually in my favour, but wrong.

I also rang up today to get a meter change to single rate. After three onward referalls to different offices, they say I need to give them current meter readings. I say, that the final readings will be taken on the meter change but they wouldn't have it. So, I have to start the whole process again....uuuugghhh:eek:.

Then each time you ring, you have to tell the automated system your account number, only to find after getting through, the operator asks you again for your account number. I asked why, and she told the system was broken. uuuugggghhh.Well do something about it,please. :o

When will my online account be ready? Don't know ,possibly another two months ......uuuuggghhh.

Ordeal is a good word indeed.:(
