Have been keeping up (roughly) but not had chance to post. Sorry so many of you are not too well, hope you get better soon. JackieO, sorry the match was cancelled (saved them losing again!) but glad you had a good weekend.

DS1 and GF have gone to London and are booked on a Cathay Pacific flight tomorrow night en-route to Australia to see DD. Hope they make it, fingers crossed.

Life here has been just surviving, getting up, defrosting the car (still -7 here), going to work and then coming home again to try and keep warm. Have managed to keep up with the housework and washing. Had friends here for dinner on Friday to have a christmas dinner with DS1 & GF before they left so house had a good clean and tidy then. Christmas tree looking good, if not listing a bit to the right, and I think I am fairly organised. Went to Edinburgh on Sunday to collect DS2, the weather was pretty grim but we made it. He seems to have taken cooking tea as his job so I am quite happy with that.

Hope you are all managing to keep safe and warm, take care. XX

I've been in bed! nearly all day  got up for a while at lunchtime and stayed up until my eyes starting rolling and went back to bed til half five. I do feel better for it and should be ok for work tomorrow :D

My car however is still frozen solid - I think the warmest it got today was -5 so its the train for me tomorrow.....haven't been on a train in years! Luckily DS1 will drop me at the station and at the other end work is just a short walk.

DH has gone to get some more of his tattoo done - so he'll be out at his works do tomorrow night in -9 temperatures and a t-shirt to show his arm off :rotfl:

There has been no OS activity here - takeaway yesterday and today  but hopefully normal service will be resumed soon. I have DS2's girlfriend wrapping presents upstairs out of the way which is a good help - don't know why i didn't ask her earlier!

    Stay warm x

Its cold and it has now started sleeting here.
There is more snow due tonight. They are forcasting 10cm to fall by the morning that will be on top of the 15cm that we had on saturday pluss what wever fell yesterday.
more snow also due in the daytime tomorrow. Now all this is only forcast so it is subject to be wrong:D They dont it right often lol. We shall see but it dose look like we are in for a white christmas here:T:T I was only a toddler myself the last time there was a white christmas. The twins are loving the snow they think its great but they get cold quick even tho we have wraped them up warm. Thay start telling us that there hands are cold and they wont to go in. As soon as they are in 2min later when they have warmed up they wont to go back out side.

We have got the twins back from my moms and dads tonght. They have been there since sunday afternoon. My wife has been missing them like mad even tho she has been at work from 8:am untill 7:00pm. We are just about to put them to bed now.

We are haveing chicken breasts and chips for dinner tonight. served with some veg and homemade BBQ saurce.

  • Evening All,

DSisIL and niece safely delivered to MIL, had a lovely drive back with them and satyed for a wee half hour for a cuppa. :) They both look well and happy. It was lovely at the airport, three flights were coming through at once, I really enjoyed watching people be reunited with their loved ones, and had twinkly eyes once or twice , I feel all Christmassy now, although I usually make them leis out of tinsel at Christmas and I forgot them, DSIL was all "Where the hell is my tinsel" :rotfl: oops :o

Having spaghetti for dinner, have a nice evening all. :)

Evening all! I got home a couple of hours ago after a rather frustrating and long journey which included over two hours sitting on a snowy platform in watford.
The london-birmingham train on the hour was cancelled every hour, so twice as many people were trying to get on to the next train which was the only one each hour that stops at Watford where I was getting the train....
    1) original train is delayed for ten minutes, delayed for 20, delayed indefinitely and finally cancelled due to broken window?!
    2) a train stops but can't physically get on it!!
    3) try to get a train via northampton but apparently that wasn't even running properly near birmingham!
    4) train stops and i have to force my way on and stand shoulder to shoulder with ~20 other people in the space around the door and toilet of the carriage! noone would even give up a seat for a tiny old lady I was helping with a bag :( and i spoke to one guy at watford who hadn't washed or changed since saturday after his flight was cancelled, rescheduled, diverted, changed, delayed, his bag lost, diverted! he was freezing in a jumper and trousers with a tiny little bag of nothing-ness.

The plus side? I only paid £14 *miracle* for my ticket(if i'd paid full price like i thought i would i'd have hit the roof) and had a hot dinner waiting from mum :)
My house isn't that hot, ~16, but the shock after existing in a draughty ice cold house means i'm boiling hot and have a stuffy headache.
Can't quite grasp walking into the corridor and there not being gale force winds :rotfl:

I'm sure I'll get back to burst pipes or something equally gruesome but I'll forget about that for now! The hot water is set to be on for an hour a day and hopefully the heat from the shop downstairs will stop the pipes freezing.

Jackie g - so glad you had that airport reunion! Really pleasedfor your family.
Adelight - glad you made it home!
Well it's perishing here. Been out to the pub and my hands are still stiff with the cold. Had a microw meal for tea, not very MSE nor OS but needs must.
Need to go for a final shop for fresh veg and also things like onion relish that i had planned to make. Even bought the blimmin' onions and left them AND the jars in the kitchen for weeks, but no, the relish fairy didn't appear.
    ah well.
Hope you are all safe and well tonight, keeping warm.
Off to watch Looking for Eric on Channel 4 which we have watched before but missed end!
