Been missing for a while as life has been a little chaotic. We had hoped to have moved into our new house by now but the weather messed that up. The tiler is finishing the bathroom as I type so we can then move, but we decided to leave it until after Christmas. We are supposed to be going to our parents for Christmas but not too sure we will make it at the moment. They have bad snow, no grit or gritters either!
It's -12 here at the moment, and I've just made some seed cake for the birds, the feeders have frozen shut so I can't fill them up just yet. We had a fantastic view of the lunar eclipse this morning. I need to go into town and finish my shopping and buy some wrapping paper. I also need to finish DH shopping as he hasn't done any yet! I've got a couple of parcels from Amazon that have gone missing, and DH present that I ordered online hasn't even been dispatched yet as it went out of stock just after I ordered it:mad:
HUGS to all that need them!0 -
Morning all, I'm attempting to get home today! Every single one of the four trains I'm getting is delayed or on an amended service and still no buses are running to my area at home because the ice is so bad and the snow too thick to plough! But I will get home, even if I have to toboggan on my laptop
It's only going to get worse and I don't wanna wait, and I have plans in place in case of train failure
Hope everyone's okay int he snow... again! I hope it goes away soon
moiliere, good luck for OH.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Good Morning Everyone ,well we made it to liverpool and back and I eventually got home last night. The match was cancelled just after we boarded the train at Euston, but we decided to carry on as the boys had been so looking forward to this trip.Managed to get to our hotel which was out by the airport, but had to wade through thigh high snow from the road to the hotel entrance.Bad marks for the Holiday Express Hotel. No one had thought to clear the path to the road at all.
Still having got there we thought at least it will be warm .The reception was a bit frosty to say the least .
'We thought you wouldn't bother with the bad weather and all' we were greeted with, so they had to sort out two family rooms a bit smartish for all 7 of us.We then decided that we would get a cab to Anfield so at least the boys got a chance to take some photos and go around the shop, which they did, and bought some posters and bits and pieces. Then we got a bus into town from the ground and had a long wander around the shops .There is a great set of shops there. I loved St John's market and Clayton Square and we then went into Liverpool One and had a slap up meal in the Pizza Hut which always goes down well with the children. We attemted to get in to see Alladin at the panto, but by the time we got there it had been on for 20 minutes so we decided as it was getting really cold and the boys were feeling the chill we got two cabs back to our hotel and having brought a pack of cards we all spent the next couple of hours playing cards with the children.Sunday morning and it was still heavy snow and very cold so after breakfast we got a couple of cabs back to Lime Street station and spent the next 3 hours watching as our trains were being cancelled .I felt for my daughter as it was her birthday, and we were all getting a bit cheesed off and then a train arrived around 1.00 and we all piled onto it.it eventually left at 2.30. but at least we were in the warm the boys were very good and never complained once about either the wait or the cold.We got into London around 5.10.p.m. and walked from Euston to St Pancras where we were lucky enough to get the 5,30 train which was actually running on time back to Rainham.having got here DD and son-in-law had to dig my car out of a snow drift but it did start first time which was good .We tried to get to my house, but the car wouldn't get up the hill so I ended up staying at Dds for the night as she lives on a flat part of road. After shopping with her yesterday I finally managed to get back home to my house last night.Half an hour later the snow came down with avengence and here I am snowed in once more in my little house. But at least I am warm and at home .
When we were at St Pancras on Sunday night I felt so sorry for those queueing for the Eurostar they were out in the cold, and the queue was about half a mile long .I don't know if it will thaw enough for me to get to my Dds this weekend or not I was supposed to be going to London today Christmas shopping with Dds ma-in-law but its just impossible to get in or out of my road.so I shall just have to be patient and wait for it to go.My hospital appointment yesterday was cancelled at Pembury, as they too are snowed in.Still I have lots of food and books and my t.v. and computer so I shall be fine .I must say I was impressed by Liverpool, and thought the bit I had seen of it makes me want to return and see all the sights properly. The people we met were really nice, and couldn't do more to help 7 lost folk in their town.Even the groundsman at Anfield was sympathetic .I will happily go back to the city again as there is such a lot I want to see.
One bum note yesteday my DD got a text from her boss to say that she is being laid off as the building company is going through a bad patch so she is out of work again, poor kid she was really enjoying her job and had only been there 2 months, not a nice Christmas present but she will cope as we will all rally around her and the kids won't go without anything.I am now going to have a big pot of tea from my new tea pot that I bought last week .
Take care everyone

Morning everybody- hugs and thoughts to everyone in need of them.
I'm currently up with the recycled teenagers in Cumbria - due to go home later today, but we woke up today at about 8.30 to find we had no water. Water company hopeless- apparently we are the only ones affected. Dad is outside, trying to warm up the the pipes with a hair drier, while Mum is recycling water from the hot water bottles and making toast. So I took an executive decision and rang the local franchise of a plumbing company up the road. I mentioned that while my parents are fully capable, Dad is 71 and Mum has a combination of MND and Reynauds. The girl on the phone was lovely. Allegedly they will be out to us by early afternoon. My train to the frozen fens goes later this afternoon, and to be honest, the sooner I am back in a warm house with running water, I will be very grateful!Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Morning all....still no water so am off to brothers in a minute for a shower and some water to keep us going....we are then attempting to get to lunch near DGS's school and to collect him at 2.30...or earlier if possible
About an inch of snow last night and another shower just now...very patchy but roads in some parts of the country are treacherous.
Hugs to all....be back later provided electricity decides to stay with us!

Morning,
It sounds like there are a lot of people needing hugs and positive thoughts today, thinking of Miolieres BIL,Beemuzed,Molly & Mooloo,JC,Lame Wolf, and anyone else in need.
Adelight-hope you get home safely.
Hope all the poorlies start to improve soon.
JackieO-glad you enjoyed Liverpool,I went in summer with DS to get his passport and we had a good wander round and were impressed-shame about the match though.
I'mtrying to have a big tidy up today.Unfortunately our bins didnt get emptied yesterday,so it'll be after Christmas now.Had some lovely topside done in the slow cooker last night, plenty left so I might make it into a pie with a suet crust for tonight.
Our printer died yesterday,so we really need to get a new one asap,as I have some work to do for DH business, invoices etc.keep the money coming inThe trouble is he's too busy to go,I can't because I cant carry one on the bus, don't want to order online in case it can't get delivered. He may have to give DS time off work to go.
Anyway, better get on,don't think a cleaning fairy is going to call today
Be careful everybody.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
