Hi,
remember,
that a sprout is not just for Christmas.
Try eating them raw, just a wee sprinkling of pepper, I can even eat them naked.
Edit: eh, that's without the pepper.0 -
We all love Brussels especially our 4 year old little lad, he was the one who wanted to grow sprouts this year.
They lush steamed with a bit of melted butter!0 -
Sprouts are my favourite vegetable! I can't wait for them to come back into season, and I'm always gutted when the early one's are tasteless, and even more gutted when they go back out of season

I get quite a few left over bits from my Dds houses and they get potioned up and popped into the freezer.Especially ham as it does me for most of January .its handy especially if the weather is bad as it saves me not only money but having to go out into the cold and wet.
I also get the sweets from the big tins that the kids and DGC don't like I grew up with rationing and i'm not as fussy as them0 -
I have always really loved the days between Christmas and New Year - all the rushing round has ended, and usually there's very little need to do much in the way of cooking! We tend to have soups with leftover cold meat and various salady bits and pickles on the two days following Christmas, and then anything still left gets put into pies etc. Nothing stays leftover for long!!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
I make gammon and turkey soup (potatoes, onion, lentils leeks) with the carcass and the last bits of leftover meat you can't really do anything else with. I dice the potatoes quite small so the soup doesn't take long to cook - half an hour is fine. When it's finished cooking I get the potato masher and mush the potatoes through the soup to make it thick and lovely. I don't peel the potatoes - the skins give it extra texture.0

I saw a nice recipe on a Sainsburys email, which is probably on their website, for using up pudding leftovers in cake squares. They use white chocolate in it but I should imagine plain choc would go well, a bit like a tiffin bar, probably.
It looks very nice, although I haven't tried it yet (but I will, I will). :rudolf:0 -

You can toss them with some olive oil in a pan, and gently squash them flattish - put a tiny sprig of rosemary on each and roast for 40 mins until golden brown. Yummy.
And Jamie Oliver's Turkey/ Leek pie and festive Strudel were clear left over winners in our house this week!0 -
we just had a newly invented leftover dish - Crazy Pie -
leftover cooked veg (in our case sprouts with chestnuts chorizo and bacon, roast parsnips, carrots, peas)
chopped up leftover cold meat (in our case 1 cooked pesto chicken thigh, ham, buffalo)
defrosted frozen cream that had gone "grainy"
3 tbs stock
- all of these were mixed together in an ovenproof dish -
then on the top -
3 leftover baked sweet potatoes mixed with leftover cauliflower cheese and horseradish sauce , added a few small bits of stilton rind -
spread this over the top with a fork and baked for 30 mins in oven at 180 - yummmmmmmyyyy :jStarted my own business and loving being my own boss
