  • Well I know some people may think I am crazy but I have done some online shopping in the sales today and I have purchased 5 christmas gifts ready for next year. I have done a list and me and OH have 26 people to buy for excluding each other and we will also have a baby next year so the plan is to get these gifts throughout the year (mini challenge for myself i think!) Feeling really good about 2011 :) xxx

    Evening All,

Well my mortgage is due this week and I have cocked up big time as I don't have the full amount for the payment, I do have half the money and I will have the rest by 10th Jan but im so peed off, I know exactly where it went wrong, as OH had a debt come up from when he lived with his mum and before we were together and he said he forgot about it when he moved, anyway he had to pay over £300 earlier in the month, and despite my best efforts I havent been able to pull it back - GOD - Im irratated :( xxx

Hi, still feeling disappoined with the mortgage, although I plan on seeing what OH gets paid tommorow adding what we can to the amount I have aside and just chucking what I can at it then on the 10th Jan when I get paid I will pay the arrears :(

Also had a letter from the bank today saying that some money couldnt be taken out of my account, I have never heard of the company attempting to take the money, I have spoke to OH who said he doesn't know (although he probably does!!) I'm feeling really irratated at the moment as I dont feel OH is fully on board with debt busting, infact im not sure he has even has his LBM which makes it difficult for me. He is always thrilled when I tell him something has been paid off, or I have made a payment on something and when he asks how much we have in the bank and I tell him and it's more than he expected he's always impressed yet he still doesnt seem to get the work that goes into and how much easier it would be if he was more on board???

Does anyone else feel there are tackling this alone sometimes?

I have bought my diary for finances so gonna spend the weekend filling in all the due dates and amounts for direct debits, will also put when contracts are up for renewal, i.e. car insurance, pet insurance etc and when the car tax is due. Also will buy another lever arch file to start filling paper work as the one I currently have is chocker!!

Had my electricity bill, I am going to phone up after the weekend and set up direct debits for both gas and electric.

Not much else to tell at the mo - thanks for reading xxx

  • I think feeling you are coping with it alone comes from managing the finances. I manage them too and feel very similar. I feel very much like its my job and much as I know he supports me he just expects me to get on with it. I really want to sort it out but do very much feel like it is all down to me. And it would be nice if it was a team thing! That's why I have come here I guess, to get some support! We can do this! :D

  • I have just calculated my outgoings and we are paying £612.11 a month on debts - grrrr its so frustrating, just think what I could do with that money, on a positive note when I first had LBM we were paying £988.98 on debts. Also my MSE account seems to be playing up, I posted earlier but it hasnt come up? and I cant see my thread when I click on debt free diaries - so im not sure if people can see my posts or not? xxx

    Xmas Saver!
just saw your diary and thought Id pop by and say hi.
Sounds like your really well planned and thats a good idea with the present shopping, I try and get as much as I can with Jan sales and points etc......
Your more than welcome to drop by the two christmas threads -
find the link, we start getting orgainsed in Jan, and aim to be money neutral.

Hope you don't think I'm being cheeky, but just thinking re money, with the baby due in May, it may be worth looking at whether there will be a drop in your income (know your studying), the reason I say this is my DD is 8, when I was expecting I had planned to work till 6 weeks before, but unfortunaly due to my job, morning sickness and everything but the kitchen sink, I ended up going off sick at 5 weeks gone, so over the period of pregnancy gradually dropping from full wage, hol pay, company sick pay, to ssp, went from £1,000 pm to £255.

May be worth pinning hubby down, and sit through and go through all the finances together, - maybe his lightbulb still flickering, and he's seeing you so organised, he may feel that your running the show (even thou your just looking after the best interests of both of you,), and have it as an open discussion, - ie come clean - last chance etc etc..

Sounds like you've done a brilliant job so far, and good luck with it.

another thought - maybe its worth doing the credit file check, you can do a trail, but make sure you cancel before the end of the "free trial", and that way you can see what everyting is listed same for hubby, think they hold 6 yrs of figures - or you could write in think its £2 to request a copy.

    Happy New Year Everyone :)

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of your thread mum2one, I have only posted this past couple of days but I love it already! I have made a list of all the special events taking place in 2011 including birthdays, christenings, valentines day, mothers and fathers day and weddings! I have also made my christmas list for next year and I am pleased to say I have 7 christmas presents already!

I have joined the £365 in 365 days challenge, which I will start today :)

Today we plan on clearing out our spare room in the first stage of operation nursery so I will see what ebay treasures I find along the way as part of the make £50 in Jan challenge on mum2ones sister thread (sorry i cant remember the full title!)

I am also going to go into town at some point and stock up on birthday cards etc and put them in my birthday book so there is no last minute dashes for cards and wrapping paper etc as the year goes on!

I've also put my first £10 into my Christmas Savings account!!

I have a very strong feeling that 2011 is going to be goooooddd!! xxx
