Morening all, seems very chirpy on here today which is good to see!
It's freezing in Kingston, the room i'm in right now is 4C and my breath wafting in front of the screen is starting to get on my nerves!! I think my sore throat is due to my diet! How annoying?!

Today I'm cleaning and packing before going home tomorrow/wednesday, I really want to go today but my Dad says I'd have to walk home from the station as no buses are running to my area  I just want to go home

Schools broke up here on Friday.

We have had no more snow but it was -14 here last night and all the outside pipes are frozen solid  so I have a blocked sink, bath and shower - luckily the stack pipe didn't freeze so the loo still works.
DS is out with a hairdryer trying to defrost them for me

DH is at work and I have stripped all the beds and am washing all the bedding.

Lunch was cheese on toast with vinegar and black pepper :D

    Dinner tonight is chicken crumble.

Well I am off to put another load in keep warm and most of all safe everyone x

    Good afternoon,

We've been busy....yesterday I ironed all the clean bedding and put it all away. Upstairs is hoovered and tidy, and the house elf and I made pink biscuits. I turned the heating off at 10am, we made the biscuits at 2pm, and he dressed for cookery class in his boxers, a vest and some hairy paw slippers. He said he was warm enough!

Today I made some banana muffins and some mince pies (some for me, some for my my friend). This afternoon, the elf (dressed more conventionally than yesterday) learned how to do "rubbing in" and made shortbread. His friend ate most of the pink biscuits yesterday and said they were delicious. We're doing cookery classes to stop him from getting bored. He doesn't want to play out, he says he doesn't like snow, it's too cold :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

He's going to play with another of his friends tomorrow - hence the shortbread to take with him. I will probably make some more mince pies.

    Take care all of you.

    Afternoon all

Boss sent me home at 1.30pm :j It's stopped snowing, but she knows I'm full of a cold and there was only one more interview so I wasn't needed. Very pretty walk home. The dock, which is frozen is now covered in snow.

I've put the BM on, going to have a bite to eat as I'm starving, then I will wash up the dishes and curl up on sofa with a book. :D

I just threw out the crusts of a loaf for the birds. I live on 4th floor so just chuck them off balcony onto grassy area below. The poor birds were so hungry that some of them were swooping up and catching the bits mid-air!

I'm debating whether to put up my Xmas tree. I really want a real one this year but unless I can get car out to shops later in week I won't be able to get one. I do have an artificial one here which will do, but it's not the same. I'll decide by Weds I think.

    Have a good afternoon all

  • Hello

Snowing quite heavy for the last hour, looks pretty but I was meant to be driving to Kidderminster to pick up the kid's main Xmas present - last one in stock anywhere near me - I'd reserved it on-line but only until 8.00pm

The only way there is down hilly, country lanes, not a good idea in this weather

Think I will go to Mr M tomorrow and get the Xmas food and try to get to the big Mr T in Redditch on Wednesday to finish the pressie shopping, fingers crossed the roads aren't too bad :rudolf:

Feel like I'm getting a sore throat, haven't got time to be ill

Hugs to all and stay safe and warm xx

    Afternoon All,
Flutterby I've been trying to get on this thread for a couple of hours so it's not just you :D
Loulou congrats to Alan great news just in time for Christmas :j
Well I am watching the weather with some concern as DP is meant to be driving to Wigan on Thursday to pick up DD2 & the 3 lo's, we will all be gutted if he can't make it, especially seeing as her cooker caught fire yesterday:eek: & blew all her electrics. However SIL has family up there so I'm sure they will get something sorted if we can't get them, would all much rather everyone was safe in their own homes than risking life & limb travelling in dreadful weather.
Sis on Islay had the back of her car caught by a gust of wind on Friday & lost control on the ice:eek: so her car is a write off & she is off work with whiplash, we do not need any more disasters.
On a more positive note Bil & Sil to be have announced they are pregnant:T 1st scan today and all is well :) & we got a parcel today that was posted from Islay a week ago, so some stuff is getting through.
Hugs to all the poorlies, sad & cba's.
    Hi5's & spoons as needed.

    keep warm & safe,

    jaxx

Glad to hear about Alans job.:j

All set for operation tomorrow. Went to hospital for a test this morning, will be back there for 7.30 am. Early start as will need to de-ice car.
Popped into town and got a few last minute things.Got the turkey crown, gravy ( very expensive but will save DH making it for first time ever on Christmas Day) also got a joint of beef half price in M&S. Have written lists for meals on Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day. DH said he will sort out meals up till then, we have stuff in the freezer.
DH also going for fruit and veg on Wednesday (list done)
Just some wrapping to do when I wont be interuppted by a certain little person.

Chicken, salad and pitta bread for tea. Then bath and early night, will set the alarm for 5.30am for a drink of water then thats it till after op.

    Enjoy your evening everyone
