abmc wrote:I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks and went to Boots to buy Suntan lotion. They have a BOGOF offer on Soltan at the moment. The only problem is that you get the cheapest item free. If you are like me, you buy lotion for the wife, husband and children. You may also buy a sun stick for your lips/eyes and aftersun. These items are a lot cheaper!
What you need to do is only buy a couple of items at a time. I bought 2 bottles of factor 12 and then went to the checkouts - saving £16. I then bought 2 factor 8's and went to the checkouts - saving £16. Then, two the kids lotion saving £32 and lastly the aftersun saving £8. If I made only one trip to the checkout, instead of saving £72 I would only have saved around £36 - because the cheapest items are free. So although it may be a bit of a hassle, it only adds about 5 minutes to your shop and you can save nearly double what you would have!lipidicman wrote:Yeah this is always the case with mix and match bogofs - DO THEM SEPERATELY

Then the items indicated will be free. There was a pictorial explaination to this effect in one of their Christmas Gift Guides.
This is true no matter how many times you qualify for the offer, how many other deals on other items (each different deal is sorted as above but separately), and MOST IMPORTANTLY no matter which order you present the items for purchase/the order they are shown on the receipt.
I think the Boots tills do this in fairness to the customers. See, Boots saving us time and money again.... Perhaps it should have been a tip for http://forums.timesavingexpert.com/ instead :rotfl:0 -
Ok then, maybe I am thinking of a purchase in another store - In any case, I always do these things seperately now, just to be sure - nice to see that Boots do it fairly0

But you would have spent £16 in total (less free items) in my example, and so would get your double points as well! :T
Actually I'm wondering if there would be trading standards implications (should someone complain) of doing it the less fair way? Perhaps not, as they have given you the "cheapest" - but still not very fair.0 -
I placed a boots.com order which arrived at 6.30am!! on Monday, when I asked the driver to wait 5 mintutes for me to get dressed he refused, he sent the parcel back to boots, saying I had refused the parcel! Phoned boots who told me they would re-order all the items for me, but guess what, seeing as they were all cleareance items no longer available, I wouldn't be getting them, so I have missed out. Boots say deliveries take place between 9am-5pm but you try telling that to the miserable sod at Business Express in Reading! lol0

I had a similar experience in Reading, but I just made him carry them all into the flat...me in my dressing gown...I think it was slightly later then 6.30am but certainly before I managed to go to work!!! I think the earlier they get their rounds done, the earlier they can knock off for the day!!! :mad:0 -

does your boots have both sizes in stock? mine only sells the large size although i've bought a small size one off ebay and they don't look as good as the kooshies ones, but i have yet to try them on a baby. last time i checked the website they didn't have small nappies, they were permanently out of stock. does this mean they're going to stop selling them do you think? there's nowhere around here to buy washables, certainly not withion a 50 mile radius anyway. i was thinking it would be handy to be able to use boots when i need the larger size, what with all their generous points offers :-)52% tight0 -
I notice that Boots is having a triple points weekend this weekend if you spend £10. Time to top up those phones again!0
-
HURRAH for triple points - especially as it's about time advantage_carrd's phone had a top-up!
Want to go to the Retail Park as it sells more food and drink stuff so more chance of going over the minimum spend but none of my relatives can take me there and it's really not the most pedestrian-friendly place - don't want to fall on my backside just in order to get more points so we shall see.
Am tempted with a 50ml Escada Island Kiss for £22.12 in the boots.com clearance section, but I'm not sure if i should or not, im always needing perfume. Might go and see what the Retail Park perfumery people can suggest.
This might be the last Boots binge for a while anyway, as a branch of Lush *fresh handmade toiletries for those who don't know it* is opening in Inverness on May 9th, they were painting it up as I went past.
So the advantage card poitns collecting might wain a bit - i will never go away from it but i might not be QUITE so obsessed with it.my advantage_card is like gold dush0
