Right I haven't been on here much lately but I am creeping back in the backdoor peeps... I have been a naughty girl! My kitchen is overflowing with food again! ARGH!
I have been a little bit good tho... hardly any take aways and 95% of all our food I have cooked from scratch (or nearly scratch I still cheat with my white sauce for lasagna...) so it's just really a case of me behaving and starting to use up what I have about :)
So this month I am going to try to NOT shop for anything other than milk and cheese (we use a lot of cheese...) and fresh eggs :)
bread I bake myself, same for cakes and banana breads (I love my BM!)

Erm can anyone give me an idea what to do with the tins of smartprice peas in the cupboard? OH bought them before I moved in so this has just reminded me I should really use them up but can't stand tinned peas on their own!

Any idea on how to disguise them so I'll eat them - let alone the kids!! :D

And please no-one suggest pea soup - memories from Mum and Dad being broke and making soup with processed peas ... even the carrots went green!!

Hide a tin of them (de-tinned) in a lasagna :) I often use fresh peas in mine :)

Squeaky dillsill should really be eaten on rye bread :) but a nice slice of normal white bread will do too :) stick on top, bit of mayo some salt and pepper and munch away :)

I'm in this month. Have quit my job and things could get a little tight if I don't find a new one soon.

    Larder and freezer shamefully stuffed.

Right, ive done a complete infantary (sp) of my cupboards and freezer. I like to have one opened, one ready of most things, so i have written a list, will be doing a big shop tonight, and then thats it, will be living purely on what we have here, will only need to buy milk, eggs, fresh fruit and veg (hopefully)!!!!!

    Count me in.
although the freezer is almost empty...which is scary rather than relieving.

Ok, have done all my lists of what I have where and wanted to ask if some things are ok to use if out of date (unfortunately found quite a few!!). Should I post my questions here or on a seperate thread??

Count me in too! Have to clear the cupboards ready for Christmas! Made the Chocolate beetroot cake today all from stores, had some vacumn packed beetroot in the fridge for ages (still in date) and some cocoa - it worked out really well, a very moist chocolaty cake.

I have about 24 tins of tomatoes to use though! :rotfl: can they go in a cake?

    Well

Something's going right. Just went to do my shop online with sainsbury's and I couldn't because it was under £25. My messages are NEVER under £25.

All I have to do is check the spuds haven't gone green and I'm set to go.

Basically the majority of our meals are coming from the freezer and the cupboard next week. So the kitchen should be a little lighter next week.

yaaay. So the grocery challenge is also going well.

    go me! go me!:T
