Dillsill (which is herrings in a dill marinade) and I keep putting off using it because a) I haven't got a clue what to do with it and b) I think I'm going to have to be "in the mood for it". It was a house gift from a visiting friend, so I'm REALLY going to have to use it.
That's from IKEA that is! Yum. I would just eat them as lunch with sandwiches. Or as a snack - like you would eat gherkins. Yum. Rollmop style. Although I wonder if you could mix the herrings in with chopped onion, chopped gherkin and single cream - to pour over boiled potatoes. But I usually use an oil-conserved herring for that purpose.:wall:0 -
thank you all for being understanding to a newbie finding her feet. didnt mean to come across as 'picking' or anything, just need to understand more, thats all. sorry if i offended anyone, it really wasnt meant to0

I'll join! Really need to dig to the back of the cupboards and see what's lurking in there as I have no idea!!!
Also in the chest freezer I dread to think what's festering...or should be freezing...at the bottom! Trouble is my parents put stuff in there too which means I have to dig twice as far to find my stuff!Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Count me in for this. OH and I are going on hols in 3 weeks and I really don't want to have to buy much food before we go. The freezer is fairly full and I think with a bit of inspiration from my fellow OS'ers, I could get away with just buying milk, bread etc.
I've got a huge bag of potatoes in the cupboard that I bought last week, they are unopened so will they keep until Sunday??Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!0 -

Hello! :hello: After being absent for far too long I'm re-joining the MSE fold. :embarrassed: and what better way than to join this? I'm in! I haven't done a weekly shop for ages but have found myself slipping and buying 'what we fancy' without any planning and I've really noticed the bank balance. Especially when not making my own lunch.
So here we go! I'm going to do an inventory tomorrow and start by making lentil soup for lunch.New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0 -
Erm can anyone give me an idea what to do with the tins of smartprice peas in the cupboard? OH bought them before I moved in so this has just reminded me I should really use them up but can't stand tinned peas on their own!
Any idea on how to disguise them so I'll eat them - let alone the kids!!
And please no-one suggest pea soup - memories from Mum and Dad being broke and making soup with processed peas ... even the carrots went green!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
What about sticking them in a casserole or shepherd's pie?New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0
