  • Morning all,

not been able to log in this week as I forgot the password (!) but as its a shared log in with the H, after I tried and tried I asked him to log in!
Had a smattering of snow but now it looks like an ice rink! I wanted to do the 'big' shop today as I can't get a home delivery, having said that my friend had 1 during the week and she had so many replacements that wer'nt uite right and refused them I think I'd rather do it myself. She has to go anyways now.

Got to do a fridge bottom soup today, I call it carrot and 'whatever' as the H hates to hear its 'leftovers' or the ends of, its all in the name isn't it! Still what he doesn't know won't hurt him.

Present wrapping will be done this afternoon and the last of the cards to write.

Keep safe and warm all of you.

  • Well I finally managed to open the DW door! It's come out of it's casing a bit (it's an intergrated one) and has shifted slightly so think that's why the door won't shut properly. Will ring LA tomorrow for them to send a man over to fix it. I've washed up by hand now - 2 bowlfuls! I've only got a small draining board so have had to lay out a teatowel to drain stuff on. Also cleaned kitchen surfaces and hob.

I've got the radio on - Radio1 - and am dancing around whilst cleaning and tidying. Quite nice :D.

Just woke up...so had a lovely sleep in. And to think I dreamed of snow like this when I was a little girl in Africa. Snow absolutely ruined my weekend....but decided to do lots today. House needs a proper clean, lots of washing to do...get some more Christmassy stuff up and going....and I think we have a pork belly Im going to roast for tea tonight along with a bottle of mulled wine.

  • Hello Everyone

No more snow here today but very cold. OH has fed the birds.

DD and SIL still trying to get home. They were diverted from Heathrow to Newcastle yesterday. OH came home from Heathrow empty handed.....The travellers were put up by BA for the night and got a train from Newcastle to Bristol at 8.00am after ringing us at 6am to discuss travel arrangements. OH has gone back to bed as trip to Heathrow arduous.

I hope DD and SIL on track as I haven't heard anything and I know there was some disruption to services this morning. I am tracking the train on the internet and it looks like they changed at York as the train missed the connection at Doncaster. So hopefully in to Bristol at about 2.30. Fingers crossed please folks!

Hugs to those who need them, hope all poorlies better soon.

    Take care

  • Yoohoo :hello:

Haven't been on here for ages but thought I'd pop in to say hello. :D

I have a few days off so am getting geared up for Christmas. I am usually so much more organised but working 40+ hours per week has put paid to that this year. :o
All prezzies are bought I think, bar a few stocking fillers for OH, but nothing is wrapped and I have little food prepped.
Spent a while in the garden this morning sorting out the chooks (who have decided temperatures of -14 won't deter them from moulting ) so they have had warm porridge for breakfast and the wild birds have fresh water, hm fat balls and seed to keep them going.

Dinner tonight is easy Shepherd's pie (once OH comes back with the lamb mince) and we have friends coming to share it. We don't eat roasts in December to make Christmas day meal more special so my menu plan for this week is cheap and cheerful soups and stews.
Made mince pies this morning so that will suffice as pud with some cheese and biccies.

Frrreeeezing here this morning but 2 tonnes of logs due for delivery in the morning and we are all wrapped up warm. One knitted hat to finish off today so will do that in front of the fire with some mulled wine when the sun gets over the yard arm.:D

Sorry if I have missed any news and stay warm and safe everyone.

Was considering taking DGNeice to a Carol Service tonight, but at -6C wondering if it is wise being on the roads.

Hope all you snotty ones get rid soon, and you feel better son Bitsy, and Loulou is OK son too, together with our MIA poorlies, Pen-Pin, Molly, etc Just spoken to DS and he is nasal, so told him to get rid before he comes home.

    Hi Guys,
    Im online:j:j:j:j
Thanks to my wonderful DD and Kids Dad - they came through the snow to bring me lapperty (my laptop) as Im still stuck in hospital. Three days and counting of lying flat on my back. Today Im allowed the smallest pillow - what an achievement!

So Im back in touch with the world and MSE via my dongle. That sounds rather rude! I have to read back through the thread so forgive me if I dont mention anything specific. We are snowed in with a huge amount at home and also here in Oxford. The staff have been snowed in so its been very short staffed but i have been well cared for.

Fingers crossed that Mooloo can move tomorrow. I know her internet connection is very wobbly at the moment but she is doing ok and keeping warm.

    Hugs and stay safe xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
