£60 non-endorsable - black/white plates

Wife got stopped recently with wrong colour plates on her car. Bummer. £60.

Notice the form has got a section to produce documents too but it looks like the police officer has crossed through that. Is that normal?

If you get a fine like this, is it just sometimes you have to produce your documents? Dont want another fine for not doing this !!!

  • Phone up your non-emergency police line and enquire.

Why did she have illegal plates for anyway?

Why not just ask them if you need to produce on this? By the way does the fixed penalty come with points for this?
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Is the "Non-endorsible" bit a clue? LOL.

People usually have them to attract attention. It worked in the OP's case.

If the vehicle was pre 1973 it would be allowed to have non reflective plates, as a mate was landed with one of these penalties on an old 1960's Landy. The plod had to withdraw the penalty.

I'd assumed that the OP's wife's car DID have the wrong plates on, because he said so. If she were driving an old vehicle, I'm sure he'd know that black plates were allowed.

Yes I thought that may be the case, but just indicated when such plates would be legal.
  • Yes, black plates on the car and, yes, knew they werent allowed. Not complaining about that - its a fair cop....

Insurance can usually be checked at the roadside, and is simply verified with a certificate.
