But we can hardly expect the tax payer to fund it can we?
Me thinks you're being a little bit cheeky asking as well
Hey, I've just checked out that website - wow!!, working hard and paying your way doesn't seem to pay any more.
You want to see what the Government and Councils are making available for over 60's etc. And for the undert 60's if there is a disabled person in the house!
Part of me says - why not if its on offer, take as much as you can - I could do with a lovely large custom built conservatory! On the other hand, what is on offer is going to be limited in terms of finance and backing, so really those who are in more need than I am should have first option.

Who this poster is, and his connection, if any, to a previous member of the forum, has no relevance whatsoever to this thread or any other thread in this section of the forum. ALL forum members should try to remember that and refrain from off-topic posting that is unhelpful to the thread-starter.
I will be reporting all OT posts about this that I see from now on.
This forum is supposed to HELP people get the benefits they're entitled to. If posters don't have something to say in that regard (and I include DIY advice in a benefits thread as well as personal abuse), then they simply should refrain from posting.
Sorry to be OT.
Get a grip, its only an internet forum!0 -

Yes, I believe that they are receiving support paying the mortgage, which is at 0.69% of the outstanding, which works out at about £38 per month they receive - hardly a massive amount.
Unfortunately due to my father's deteriorating health (he had to retire on medical grounds about 6 years ago), my mother had to stop work in order to look after him. They spent their saving having a new bathroom fitting and other home improvements, such as roofing and insulation etc. Unfortunately these costs ran higher than anticipated, as other problems were found (such as a damp proff course and walls needing to be tanked) and they ran out of money.
My parents spent all their working lives contributing to society, paying tax - they certainly have not spent a 'life on benefits'.
if mum has epilepsy why doesnt she claim DLA as well?and they receive 3.67% mortgage interest help not 0.69%0 -

No I love it!! It's not me that is complaining - it was the OP!!!
Never have I come across so many 'interesting' problems. It's addictive.
There is so much material on it!!
The one about that guy who died and rose from the dead fascinates me then there is that guy who talks to people on the other side - but wait I missed out the religious guy that believes he knows where Jesus actually lives now - in Folkestone I think he said!!
My ribs ache with laughter - sorry but that must be the most amusing story I have ever heard. But the best bit of all is that everybody believes what they are saying!!! The next thing we will hear is that St Peter is to publish the names for January lot that are to pass through the Pearly Gates on this forum.
Whoever started this load of crap needs a medal and a gold one at that. I've given up with TV just to read the next instalment!!0 -

It was to highlight the fact that this must be one of the few remaining worthwhile benefits of being over 60! The Governemnt is intent in reducing nearly everything else, yet is actively promoting through the LA's, heaps of money to improve your home.
I really could do with that designer conservatory!0
