Yep I'm in again this month for the 3rd time and I'm beginning to find this easier to do  Came in under budget last month, suprising as it was a 5 wk month and I didn't realise :rotfl: Another 5 wk month this month so I'm sticking to the £375 budget :rotfl:

I still have some frozen meat and storecupboard bits from last month but dh made inroads into my frozen meals while the children and I were away so I need to replace them :rotfl: So this weekend I will do my monthly menuplan as this helped loads last month :D

    Good luck everyone

Ok i'm doing it this month. we have chnaged things slightly as although hubby gets paid on 23rd of each month i was finding this hard to work with . so my month now runs from 1st of each month.

i have a budget of 200. now so that i don't go over this i am using an old credit card which has a limit of 200 pounds. so therefore i can't go over budget . then each month i clear the card. i'm looking forward to a new challenge.

although i not sure i need to buy very much at all yet, as i have so much in. but i will be stocking up on little bits for xmas to stash away. and i am going to try and get lots of bargins as well. so i shall be going off hunting for those.

I'm not really sure how much to budget.

hi judi 24. you might find it easier to try to reduce your first month's bill by 10% initially rather than have a fixed amount. If you manage to reduce more it will be great. most of this works by cooking from scratch and sourcing products that are not expensive. if you do not have much time there are lots of very good tips in the indexed section on recipes for meals that can be prepared in bulk.
might be helpful to read some of the meal planner threads to give you a better idea.

I am in again out of my £350 budget last month I had about £8 left, although I did buy £10 worth of tights for DD, £12.50 for her lunch club, £4 for a pudding basin and some other things that should not have come out of my food/toiletry budget (but at least it didnt get put on the credit card!!).

So gonna aim for £350 again and hope to come in under this. Month runs from 25th to 25th. I have already done the main online tesco shop this month so spends so far.

Tesco - £165 (includes nappies and all main items for meals for month)
Organic Veg/Fruit Box & Organic Sausages - £18.50 (will not do this again was first order and was far from impressed)
Butcher (local market) £18 (included joint of beef so roast and curry. £5 tray of chicken breast so now have 2 huge bags of chicken nuggets made up in freezer). Gammon joint £6 which I have cooked, sliced and frozen into portions so sandwiches etc sorted for the month.

Have got enough bread flour etc to last me the month in my main order and about 18 pints of milk in freezer so should just need to buy fruit, veg, milk.

    I'm in again.

Well it looks like I'm just going to scrape in under my budget for October.

For November I'm bringing it down to £360 to include petrol. Should end up as £300 on food and £60 on petrol.

That is to feed 2 adults, five kids a cat and a dog.
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

  • Count me in again too. I just missed my target of £90 for last month mainly cos I had a bad month and went shopping again for chocolate and cake right at the end

I'm going to aim for £90 again this month - I'm sure it's doable, especially if I actually use some of the stuff that's been hiding in my freezer...

    Hello,
I am in again this month. Same budget of £250 for 2 adults (one with hollow legs lol), 2 small children (one of whom still in nappies). Last month we came in at £219 so I want to make sure it is not a freak occurrence!
We are also setting an "Entertainment" budget of £100 to include any nights out, outings for the kids, and takeaways.
    Good luck everyone!
Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)
    NSDs: 3
    Walk to school: 2/47
    Bloater challenge: £0/0lbs

  • First month of doing this so am guessing at £150. Will prob be loads more than that if i get carried away at costco!!

This is for 2 adults and a 4 month baby
  • Right we're gonna do this again for Novemeber I think. Did really well in september or was it august? Anyway we do keep shopping to a minimum usually but OH does have a tendency to buy lots ofchocolate and stuff at work. Hopefully having to write down (and show me!) how much he has spent should cut that down!

Target: £150 for the three of us for food, toiletries and cleaning products. Would like this to be for shopping as a whole but with xmas shopping and petrol and stuff i think i would be setting myself up for a rather large fall.
